Captain America May Return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Captain America Return:

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently being rewritten as Marvel has hired Loki showrunner (& Rick & Morty writer), Michael Waldron, to redo some of Doctor Strange 2. Jade Barlett submitted the previous draft of the Doctor Strange sequel. Now that Scott Derrickson is out, Marvel is doing exactly what they wanted with the next Doctor Strange movie. Sam Raimi is in talks to take on the movie and he’d be the perfect director to take helm the film. Anyway, Doctor Strange 2 could make the impossible possible. We’re hearing a rumor that Chris Evans could return as Captain America.

MCU Cosmic reported that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will bring in Doppelganger versions of the heroes that we’ve seen in the MCU so far. With that in mind, We Got This Covered is reporting that a suggested idea is to bring in an evil Captain America as this time Evans will be from an Earth where the Avengers are all bad.

It’d be lovely to see an Evil Captain America. So far he has been God’s righteous man, the epitome of justice. Changing that up a complete 180 Degrees would seem quite interesting. But then again, there’s the fact that Chris Evans has already claimed that he is done as Captain America. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will be all about introducing a new Captain America in the MCU. So, why would Chris Evans return for Doctor Strange 2?

The Multiverse of Madness Will Feature 3 Villains

Well, we’ve got another answer for this. A long while back, we heard rumors that Doctor Strange 2 will involve Zombie Avengers. So, Captain America could be a Zombie, and we might have even more Marvel Zombies such as Z-Iron Man, Z-Hulk & even Z-Doctor Strange. After all, Marvel wants to put in fun-creepy-scary sequences in the movie. So Zombies would surely be the way to go. This way Chris Evans won’t have to return as Steve Rogers and we’d get our Captain America return as well.

Anyway, all of it has to be taken with grain of salt. But if Marvel Zombies are going to be involved, then Sam Raimi would definitely be the perfect director for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He has a vast experience with Horror films. He deserves a shot at Superhero movies after having directed the great Spider-Man Trilogy (2 out of 3 is still a win). Let’s just hope that he will be the director that Marvel hires.

Back in 2015, Sam Raimi did an interview with CBR and he said that he’d be happy to direct an MCU film –

“I think they’re so complete now, Marvel. They probably don’t need me anymore. But if they needed me? I’d love to. It’s great to be wanted.”

Marvel is in need of a director who has experience with horror films and superhero movies. Ticking these two boxes, Sam Raimi would be the perfect replacement of Scott Derrickson. We were worried that we’d miss Scott Derrickson’s take on the movie. Now, we might actually get to see something even better with Sam Raimi’s vast experience. Even Tobey Maguire might return for a cameo since Doctor Strange 2 is a multiverse movie. So, let’s see what happens.

Marvel’s future is huge and there’s a lot that could happen. Black Widow is going to kick off the future slate on May 1. Here’s how the rest of the Phase 4 slate looks like – The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in August 2020, The Eternals on November 6, 2020, WandaVision in December 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021, Loki in Spring 2021, Spider-Man 3 on July 16, 2021, What If? In Summer 2021, Hawkeye in Fall 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder on November 5, 2021. Following these are Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk. Black Panther 2 has been scheduled for May 6, 2022.
