Alien-Invasion Movies:
Aliens have always been a popular topic among the fans, and we have seen countless movies on it. There is just something special about watching an alien race invading Earth and losing in the end. A lot of directors have tried before, but only a few have managed to succeed.
#10: Signs (2002)
Directed by the visionary M. Night Shyamalan, Signs is an amazing mystery movie about an alien invasion. It stars Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix and they are amazing in it. When weird crop circles start appearing all over the world, the people must brace themselves for what’s coming next. It is a Shyamalan movie, so you can expect a crazy story.
#9: Man of Steel (2013)
Man of Steel is a very underrated movie that deserves a lot more credit. It shows Superman in a very realistic light. Clark Kent sets out to find his place in the world and the movie shows his journey in the most realistic way. Henry Cavill is an amazing Superman and we all are still hoping for a sequel, even though it is a distant dream at this point.
#8: Transformers (2007)
The first movie in the Transformers franchise is also the best in it. The Visual Effects in this movie were sublime and it was way ahead of its time. The movie is full of action and unlike the other Transformers movies, the human characters are likable in this movie. This franchise could have been very special if they had maintained the quality.
#7: They Live (1988)
A construction worker finds a pair of special sunglasses that allows him to discover a parasitic sub-society of aliens living in disguise. The movie is goofy, and there are a few plot holes, but they still manage to deliver a very enjoyable movie. The movie also has a lot of cultural relevance as it can be seen as a satire on today’s world.
#6: The Abyss (1989)
The Depths of Oceans are one of the most mysterious places on Earth and no one knows what resides there and this movie plays on this concept. The Abyss is visually beautiful, and the underwater theme adds a lot to the tension. James Cameron is a Genius director and he delivers once again.
#5: War of the Worlds (2005)
Steven Spielberg creates a very tense and terrifying atmosphere to make a very good remake of the original that came out in 1953. Tom Cruise was amazing as usual as the dad in this movie, but Dakota Fanning stole the show. Wells would be proud of this adaptation as it retains some elements of the original novel.
#4: Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
The humans are into a full-fledged war against an alien species and not all hope is lost as Tom Cruise’s character gains a very peculiar ability where he gets to relive the same day over and over again. The movie mixes the elements of a lot of sci-fi classics masterfully and the final product is full of thrill, action, and emotions.
#3: The Avengers (2012)
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes band together to fight Loki, who along with an alien army attacks Earth to take control. To see all our favorite superheroes, fight together on the big screen was a dream come true and no one thought it was possible to pull off such a feat before the Avengers.
#2: Independence Day (1996)
Independence Day is one of the most iconic sci-fi movies of all time. It is a proper popcorn flick that you will enjoy every time. It is not a serious movie and its sole purpose is entertainment, which it is full of. Some people criticize the movie for its plot holes but in our opinion, they took the movie too seriously.
#1: The Thing (1982)
The Thing is an iconic sci-fi movie that the fans still cherish. The story revolves around a US research station in Antarctica that discovers an alien that can take the form of its victims. It is an amazing mix of horror and sci-fi. Movies like this are a rarity and we hardly see any movie like this anymore.
