Jonah Hill Could Possibly Play This Villain in The Batman

Two recent updates that came from THR & Deadline claimed that Jeffrey Wright is in talks to play Jim Gordon, and Jonah Hill is in talks to play a villain in the movie respectively. “In Talks” means that everything is done, these actors have been selected for their respective roles and just the final contract signing has to be done. So, it is more or less final that these actors are going to appear in The Batman. While we know about Jeffrey Wright, the question that arises is – Which character will Jonah Hill play in the movie?

This film is said to have 6 villains. Penguin & Catwoman are confirmed villains, and the plot details have teased Riddler to have a prominent role as well. Here’s what those details read:

“The Batman will explore a detective case — when people start dying in strange ways, Batman must go deep into the dark world of Gotham to find clues and solve the mystery/conspiracy connected to Gotham City’s history and criminals. In the film, all of Batman’s Rogues Gallery are already out there and active, similar to the comics and animated shows/movies. The film will have multiple villains, as they are all suspects.”

Since Batman has to solve a murder mystery, Edward Nigma should have the most prominent role. Scooper Jeff Sneider of Collider has stated that Jonah Hill will sign on to play The Riddler. He is a talented actor and will certainly be able to deliver an amazing version of The Riddler. But another villain that he could do justice to is Penguin. Perhaps his younger self, the fat Jonah Hill would have made a very comic accurate Penguin. But that doesn’t really matter now, as the Gotham series on FX had proven otherwise.

Another villain that Hill might suit is Mad Hatter. But since we’re not sure of how prominently Mad Hatter will be involved in the story, we cannot be certain. Keeping all things in mind, The Riddler is what we have been able to deduce. Mind you, this will be a very different take on Edward Nigma, and we’re actually excited for it.

A big rogues Gallery will come into play. Here’s what Reeves had to say about the villains of the film:

“We’re thinking the movie would probably be for 2021, late spring or summer. Warner Bros. has been incredibly supportive and given me a lot of time and shared the same passion that I do for this story. There will be a Rogues Gallery. The casting process will begin shortly. We’re starting to put together our battle plan. I’m doing another pass on the script and we’ll begin some long-lead stuff to start developing conceptual things.”

Justice League Reboot to Be Setup with The Batman

Matt Reeves is building a Noir-themed aesthetic for the story which will take a more grounded approach, exploring the Detective skills of the Caped Crusader. No film has particularly delved into Batman being the World’s Number 1 detective, and this one will do exactly that. Here’s what Reeves had to say about his Noir-Batman themed story:

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

James Bond 25 Robert Pattinson Danny Boyle

The Batman releases on June 25, 2021. It is supposed to start a new trilogy, and perhaps even build up to a Justice League reboot. Let’s see what happens.
