Nova:
With the release of Avengers: Endgame, the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now a slate of endless possibilities. We know that the MCU is now pushing towards the final frontier – Outer Space. The stories of all MCU movies from this point onwards will be based on adventures in the far reaches of the void. To that end, Marvel has started giving us hints as to what to expect from them in the near future.
We had already heard rumors about an Adam Warlock movie. The Eternals movie is already happening as we speak. With Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 being given the green-light, we would have thought Marvel’s slate would be filled up to the brim with Outer Space movies. Turns out, there might be one more. Nova is supposedly going to make his official debut in the MCU in the coming years. Presenting – Marvel Studios reportedly developing a movie on Nova – Marvel’s Green Lantern!!
A Nova movie was rumored to be in the minds of the Marvel Studios overlords since a long time ago. The world of Xandar which Nova belongs to was already shown to be there in the MCU since Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1 introduced it years ago. We also saw the Nova Corps in action in the same movie. Richard Rider, the most popular Nova in Marvel Comics, is also a character that exists as a Xandarian native in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Xandarian homeworld has been destroyed since the events of Avengers: Infinity War. All the ingredients needed to win the Nova solo movie are already there.
A fan site called MCU Cosmic has recently teased that a Nova movie is actually under development in the Marvel Studios. But news sites like these are a dime a dozen. So why should we believe this piece of news from yet another flimsy site with non-credible sources? It is because a Nova movie was teased to be on the minds of Marvel Studios way before. Marvel Studios executives had themselves claims that Nova is one superhero they would love to develop for a movie and bring to the theatres. Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, had himself claimed that Nova aka the Human Rocket is one character that has incredible potential to fit into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. He says and we quote:
“If we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board,” Kevin Feige was heard saying. “Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”
There are still questions to be answered if Nova is actually being considered being brought into the MCU. How will the superhero make his debut in the movies? Will Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 introduce the hero in some way? Or will there be a completely separate Origin story for the space-faring superhero like Captain Marvel’s was? There are many questions that need answers to. For now, grab on to your chicken wings and wait it out. It is going to be a long ride.
The Last Solo Marvel movie to be released under the Disney banner is Captain Marvel. The movie is currently in theatres. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
Captain Marvel is an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who finds herself caught in the middle of an intergalactic battle between her people and the Skrulls. Living on Earth in 1995, she keeps having recurring memories of another life as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With help from Nick Fury, Captain Marvel tries to uncover the secrets of her past while harnessing her special superpowers to end the war with the evil Skrulls.
Avengers: Endgame released on the 26th of April, 2019. The official film synopsis of the movie has been released and it states:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
