There are still a lot of mysteries that surround Avengers: Endgame and one of those is the entry of Captain Marvel in the film. If you think about it, a hero of her standards should make a grand entrance, but given that there will have to be a connection set up with Nick Fury’s Pager moment, her entrance could be rather subtle.
Spoilers for Captain Marvel are inbound, so continue at your own risk.
We recently got to know that there are going to be 2 Post Credits scenes in Captain Marvel through the early screenings that happened. Then, an infamous Youtube Channel named The Cosmic Wonder came out with the reveal of the two Post Credits scenes. The first post-credits scene, which technically is the mid-credits scene brings in Steve Rogers. Now, this scene takes place at the Avengers Facility, and we see Captain America holding Nick Fury’s Pager from Infinity War.
Black Widow is also present, and the two have no idea upon what the Pager is and what they should do with it. And right then, they hear Captain Marvel herself who is standing behind them. Carol asks the two that “Where’s Nick Fury.” This ends the first scene. For the second scene, i.e. the Post credits scene, you can click here.
Considering that there is no official confirmation of this scene to be true, we can take it by a grain of salt. But this does look to be true. Now, there is a theory involving James Rhodes and Carol Danvers which comes from Aaron Kelly. According to Aaron, Rhodey and Carol would probably be of the same age and know each other since they were both in the Air Force.
According to Aaron we will get a cameo from Rhodey in Captain Marvel, which would further set up a reunion in Avengers: Endgame. He goes on to say that Maria and Carol could be talking about Rhodey and the other fellow air force pilots in the Higher Further Faster Spot. He then suggests that Rhodey could actually bridge the gap between Carol and the Avengers in Endgame at a time where Fury is absent. He further teases that this could also spark a romance between them just like they have in the comics.
Well, this theory does make quite a lot of sense. Rhodey having the rank of Colonel in the Air Force is evidence of the fact that he has been in the Air Force for quite a long time. Don Cheadle is currently 54 years old, and Rhodey in the MCU should also be somewhere around this age, if not exactly the same.
Just because Captain Marvel doesn’t age as fast as normal humans due to her Kree DNA doesn’t mean that she and Rhodey cannot have a romantic relationship in the future of the MCU. But don’t bet your money on that as Avengers: Endgame is already pretty full that there may not be anything more than a set up for this.
If the post-credits scene of Captain Marvel that is mentioned above turns out to be true, then the Rhodey reunion could surely work along with that. They could reunite at the Avengers facility before or after Carol meets with Steve and Natasha. In fact Rhodey could be the one that takes her to them. This is just a theory so don’t be disappointed if this doesn’t happen. But it would be really fun to see a de-aged Don Cheadle cameo in Captain Marvel.
Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26, and it’ll presumably star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Samuel L.
