Today, we are going to talk about 20 brilliant TV shows canceled by Marvel way too soon and we all missed those shows a lot because some of them were brilliant and some of them were almost on the edge of becoming incredible. But, these aren’t the kind of things we associate marvel with as they have been fundamental in creating and using their characters in a very productive manner.
But, today we are going to talk about the shows which kick-off in a spectacular manner but couldn’t be able to take the wonderful start to the middle and crashed out eventually in the final stage. Yes, there are a lot shows who had a tremendous potential in them but didn’t had any kind of consistency which finally forced Marvel to pull the plug. So, these are the shows down below which pulled by Marvel way too soon.
20. Wolverine And The X-Men:
The theme of this show was ‘Tragedy’ as it kicked-off with an explosion at the school which simply split the team of X-Men for a good purpose. also, the different villains of the X-Men started coming together in order to create a huge force in comparison of the X-Men. But, the best thing about this show was the individuality of X-Men heroes. But, was canceled just after one season back in 2009 because of bad ratings at the start of the show.
19. Black Panther: The Animated Series:
In this show, we saw the struggle T’Challa faces after the sudden death of his beloved father. Also, he wanted to be the next king of Wakanda but in order to become that he has to cross a lot of hurdles. The show presented a lot of dangerous villains who want to take over Wakanda. The show was really unique and quite different than the other Marvel shows but was canceled by Marvel after just six episodes because the popularity of the show wasn’t as per the expectations of makers.
18. Silver Surfer:
We all know that Silver Surfer has a huge fan base out there and having Jack Kirby as the director of the show. We simply, can’t think of a disaster out of it but it’s true that even this show lasted for only one month as it was canceled by Marvel because of the reason that there was a kind of legal battle around the character of Silver Surfer started when it was rising to the highest points of success as the show had characters like Ego -The Living Planet, Beta Ray Bill, and many other cosmic characters.
17. Spider-Man: The New Animated Series:
In this show, we saw the events which have been shown in the first film of Spider-Man by Sam Raimi and it wasn’t like many other Spider-Man shows who are quite retelling. The show focuses on the life of Peter Parker who wants to establish a relationship with Mary Jane but has to get rid of Harry Osborn, Lizard, and Kraven the Hunter. But, after just one season it was canceled as it couldn’t be able to provide the kind of ratings which impresses the MTV.
16. Iron Fist:
Despite the release of Iron Fist’s second season which got tremendous appreciation from the critics and crowd all over the world, it has been announced that Netflix isn’t going to launch Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 3 anymore and the fans are in a state of shock at the moment. Finn Jones, who portrayed the character of Danny Rand, a billionaire and a Buddhist monk who is also a Martial artist proficient in Kung-Fu. On the other side, Jessica Henwick portrayed the role of Collen Wing, who is a famous Martial artist ally of Danny.
15. Blade: The Series:
Well, not many of you know this but a show based on this character was the most-watched TV show premiere of that time and many people thought that the show is going to have a long journey. But, despite having excellent and incredible ratings both by critics and fans, the show was canceled because the budget of the show was kept on increasing and at that time budget was a problem and even Spikes didn’t take the charge for it and the show was canceled.
14. Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes:
This show was exactly the opposite of what we saw in the movies as it was completely funny, concise, and wacky. But, also the show showed the backstory of all the characters quite perfectly and also there were a lot of things in the show which made this show more unique as there were space battles, impressive powers, action and has also shown alien courtrooms. But, the show was canceled just after one season even before all the episodes of that season even aired and it was simply a heartbreak for the fans.
13. Marvel Anime:
It was Madhouse which joined hands with Marvel in order to create this one as in some of the episodes of this show we saw Wolverine, Blade, and many other characters like them. We all know Anime shows had great success in the past but at the time of this show, Anime was the kind of thing which not many people liked or favored. Which resulted in the cancellation of the show just after a few episodes.
12. Most Wanted:
We all know that Agents of SH.I.E.L.D. had a tremendous run at the hearts of viewers and is the reason why Marvel wanted to expand their world by bringing a show based on the two characters of the show, Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter. As the show shows us the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. and focuses on the exploits of these two. It was ABC who threw a pilot first but they showed up their back when it came down to bring the show and hence we have seen only one episode of this show.
11. Luke Cage:
We all know that Luke Cage Season 3 which got canceled by Netflix gathered a lot of headlines because season 2 of the show was a huge success. The reasons for which the cancellation of Marvel Television Series one of the most popular and successful series, Luke Cage, has been revealed.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, sources claimed that the real reason behind the cancellation was the differences both parties share in the creative department. Things aren’t clear at the moment whether it is between the showrunner Cheo Hodari and Marvel TV or is it between Netflix and Marvel.
10. Power Pack:
There were claims by Kevin Feige that he could bring the Power Pack into the MCU in future but after the introduction of the pilot which was completed, they didn’t pick up the show for a series and re-run the pilot for some time. As according to the networks the show and the characters don’t have a future which is the reason why no network picked them for a full season.
9. Iron Man:
This show managed to get two seasons but as canceled afterward because of the reason that the ratings of the second show were quite low and was also criticized for its direction and acting also. But, in the second season, the level of these problems seems to increase even more which resulted in the cancellation of the show.
8. Inhumans:
Inhumans was originally planned to be incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and be portrayed on the silver screen. But instead, they were sent to the TV arena, alongside the massively successful Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which airs on ABC network. The show primarily focuses on The Royal Family of Inhumans, who has decided to come to Earth after a military coup in their homeland, Attilan.
The show had some well-known names like Anson Mount, Serinda Swan, and Iwan Rheon, who played the role of Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones. Having a dismal rating of just 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, the cancellation of the series is not really surprising.
7. Ultimate Spider-Man:
There are very fewer people defending Ultimate Spider-Man. With some comedy to a Spectacular Spider-Man, this show was a bit underwhelming. Though the writers of the show had a clear eye and they stuck to it, which led it to be a more concise and brilliant series the show survived only for three seasons and the reason for its cancellation was probably to make space for Marvel’s Spider-Man. The latter was much lousy in every way and made us miss the Ultimate Spider-Man.
6. The Defenders:
The response The Defenders got was a mixed one in terms of the success the miniseries has had. But the critics were generally disappointed with the overall story, pacing, and the use of The Hand as villains. Third-Party analysis indicated that the miniseries was the least-viewed of the Marvel Netflix series and had the largest week-over-week drop in viewership of them.
Even though it was the third-most binge-raced series globally at the time of its release according to Netflix. These are the reasons why they simply canceled the show. But, there were claims by fans that they liked the last season of this show.
5. Agent Carter:
Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger, has always proved to be one of the more characters. Some of the future Marvel movies gave hint at her benefaction to S.H.I.E.L.D., but this series Agent Carter is actually about how she did it. It was an action series that helped Agent Carter to grab all the limelight.
Regardless of losing her Steve Rogers during the war, she didn’t give up and continued to fight the good fight. Nevertheless, the series suffered in getting the number of viewers that the network was looking for, it was canceled even before getting season three.
4. Spider-Man: Unlimited:
Having one of the weirdest costumes for the superhero, Spider-Man: Unlimited has witnessed to be one of the most exciting Marvel shows. In this series, Peter Parker is sent to a different Earth to cease villains called as the Bestial. Special thanks to Reed Richards for giving Spidey an impressive technology suite, which really helped him to be a more effective hero. The show was fascinating and the first season of the show even led to a serious cliffhanger. Nevertheless, due to the popularity of Pokemon at that time, the show suffered to obtain an impressive audience, which forced Fox to pull off the show.
3. Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes:
Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, was like a bumper hamper for the fans, as it has everything they wanted from a series that’s about MCU’s greatest heroes. It was a complete package of great action, tight animation and a bunch of powerful villains to fight, this show was one of the best in its time. In this show, the team had to fight against a bunch of cruel villains while finding new superheroes to add to their team. Although it was amongst the best one, this show lasted only two seasons. Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was taken down so that Avengers Assemble would replace it. Fans were not at all happy as Avengers cartoon can never be the same.
2. Daredevil:
Daredevil is an American web series which is created for Netflix by Drew Goddard and is based on Marvel Comics character of the same name. The series was first launched in 2015 and proved to a hit for Netflix. Since it’s the first season to the course of three seasons, this series is now one of the streaming service’s most popular shows which also collected critical acclaim.
There were reports that filming of Daredevil Season 4 was supposed to start in February 2019. This is said to be the third live-action Marvel series which has been officially canceled by the streaming giant in recent times, following the league of Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
1. Spectacular Spider-Man:
This is right here the poster boy of this list as Spectacular Spider-Man was the show which canceled way too soon as there are a lot of fans and people who wanted to see a better end of this show but was later replaced by the show Ultimate Spider-Man. The show couldn’t be able to breadth after it’s the second season and it was the ending of this show which was a big drawback and we all really hope that the ending of the show could be better.
