Avengers: Endgame Will Reportedly Feature a Cameo by Hangover Star Ken Jeong

Avengers: Endgame is going to be a film which doesn’t just bring together an all-star Marvel cast that we have ever seen before, but it will also give us multiple cameos from actors that are totally unrelated to the MCU. The Russos are experts in sneaking cameos here and there, and the final Avengers movie won’t be any different than the previous ones.

In Infinity War, the Russos sneak in Tobias Funke at Knowhere in one of The Collector’s Pods, and now according to a new report coming from Revenge of the Fans, The Hangover and Crazy Rich Asians star Ken Jeong will also appear in a cameo in the upcoming movie. This would really be a surprise for the fans of the show “Community,” as this marks the third Community cameo in one of the Russo films.

Prior to Ken Jeong, Danny Pudi was a SHIELD communications tech engineer in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Jim Rash played an employee of M.I.T. in Captain America: Civil War. As mentioned above, the Russos love these cameo shenanigans, and Joe Russo himself has made 2 cameos previously in The Winter Soldier and Civil War. He even had a cameo in Infinity War as one of the Papparazi photographers who gets chased by Happy Hogan, but the entire scene which was supposed to play during Tony’s Jog was cut off as it was getting too repetitive, with Happy interrupting Tony & Pepper before Thor.

But we need not worry as Happy will surely appear in Avengers: Endgame, and there a big plausibility of another one of the classic Joe Russo cameos in the film. Since there are so many MCU characters who will make it to Avengers: Endgame, it will feel that most of them will get scenes which will end up being equal to nothing but a cameo.

The Grandmaster, the Collector, Happy Hogan, Thor’s mother Frigga, Odin, the Ancient One and many more. But the big cameo that we are waiting for is none other than the one Stan Lee makes. It wouldn’t be surprising if he appears as one of the superheroes, there are already too many of those, and people wouldn’t give a damn about where Stan Lee came from!

Co-director Anthony Russo talked about these cameos that they put in last year. Here’s what he saidL

“We’ve always had a creative process throughout our careers where we like to combine things that don’t seem like they belong together and see what you get. We describe it as like a mad scientist process. If you go back to something like Arrested Development, an example of this would be that you take a completely absurdist story and you shoot it in the most grounded, realistic way you can possibly present a narrative. The incongruity of those two things gives you something that feels fun and weird and interesting. We’ve applied that same process to combining all these different tones, all these different characters.

It’s really just a process of us thinking about how you smash those things together. The way we end up balancing it is that we always try to ground it in an emotional truth for the character. That becomes our guidepost. If something doesn’t feel emotionally true or emotionally real for a character, then we can’t follow that storyline. We have to always use that as our guidepost through the narrative, and that’s how we hold everything together ultimately.”
