This flick is the most famous film adaptation of the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas. It follows the story of Devdas, a wealthy law graduate who returns from London to marry his childhood sweetheart, Paro. The rejection of this marriage by his own family triggers his descent into alcohol, ultimately leading to his emotional decline and him seeking refuge with a courtesan Chandramukhi. The ensemble cast of the film included Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, and Jackie Shroff. This 1982 historical drama film based on the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the leader of India’s non-violent independence movement against the British colonial rule in India. The film was screened retrospectively on 12 August 2016 as the Opening Film at the Independence Day Film Festival. It was released in both India and UK.

The film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane is based on O. Henry’s short story The Last Leaf. The story is set in 1950’s West Bengal when the zamindari system was prominent in India. The film used its era mainly for the setting as the original story and had nothing to do with Bengal in the 50s. The movie won praises for the breathtaking performances, direction, and cinematography.

It stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, a Rajput queen is known for her beauty, who’s the wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor and Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, who hears about her beauty, forms an obsessive love for her and attacks her kingdom to claim her. is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The critics and the audience praised the visuals, the cinematography and Singh’s portrayal of Khilji.
