Ross Marquand on Red Skull Return And Playing Moon Knight in MCU

The entry of Red Skull in the movie ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was incredible and Ross Marquand, the actor who portrayed the role of Red Skull has spoken about the future and return of his character in the MCU as we still don’t know what role he is going to play in the future.

We all know and accept the fact that Red Skull is simply one of the most popular and amazing super villains of the MCU because of the history he has in the comics and was also one of the very first villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but the future of the character is still not known.

His appearance in the movie Avengers: Infinity War was surprisingly incredible because I didn’t think that I will see Red Skull in a place like that and also in that kind of appearance because I have to say that he literally looked kind of a demon, on the likes of Voldemort or Dementors from the movies of Harry Potter.

We also want to know the exact and true reason why he was in that place as the guardian or a gatekeeper of the soul stone as we all know that it was the same place where one of the most emotional scenes of the MCU took place when Thanos grabbed Gamora’s hand in order to sacrifice her for obtaining the soul stone.

We don’t know then what happened to Red Skull as now there’s no soul stone at that place for him to guard and the future of Red Skull seems to be unclear but there are a lot of things said by the actor who portrayed Red Skull in the movie during the San Jose Fan Fest. He stated,

“I loved playing Red Skull, I hope I can come back and play him again. We’ll see. That’s one of the characters that I drew the most as a kid. I would draw Sabretooth, I would draw Omega Red — a lot of Omega Red, surprisingly — Mephisto, and Logan [Wolverine], obviously. But Red Skull was probably one of the first characters that I learned to draw, so this is like the craziest, most amazing dream.”

As we all know that it was Hugo Weaving who portrayed the character of Red Skull in the movie ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ but because of the talent and skills Marquand has, he becomes the first choice for the role of Red Skull in the movie Avengers: Infinity War.

There are also suggestions that Avengers: Endgame is going to be the last movie in which we will see Red Skull and after that nothing is going to be there about Red Skull in the MCU, at least for a very long time. Ross Marquand stated his views about his desires and wishes if Red Skull will not return.

“But on the off chance that that character — I don’t know if he’s out of the MCU, or if he’s free to roam, or whatever — but if he doesn’t come back, I would love to play Moon Knight,” Marquand added. “Because that’s kind of Marvel’s — he gets compared to Batman a lot, like Marvel’s Batman, but he’s such an amazing character.”

We all know that the character of Moon Knight is quite amazing as the character has been created to give a reply to the creation of Batman by DC. The story of the character is also amazing and one of the characteristics of Moon Knight is what Marquand likes the most and it is none other than his mental illness. About that, Ross said,

“And what they go into in a later part of the series with his dissociate identity disorder, he has a hard time keeping realities separate from his crime-fighting or if this is all in his head, and he might like actually be going crazy,” Marquand added. “Which, if you think about it, what superhero wouldn’t kinda be going crazy a little bit if you have an alter ego? I think it would mess with your head. So that’s a character I would love to play.
