‘Glass’ Projected to Hit $70 Million Opening Weekend

According to recent reports, Glass, an upcoming superhero movie by Shyamalan is tracking for a $70 million opening and the makers of the movie will surely be pleased by these reports as the movie is going to be released in January and it seems like people will turn up for this movie for sure.

Glass

So, the movie Glass is a sequel of movies, as the first one was Unbreakable which came back in 2000 and Split which came in 2016 and the trilogy seems to get the name ‘Eastrail 177 Trilogy’ by the makers of this series. The movie is going to have a lot of stars from the previous films.

Bruce Wills, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard will be reprising their Unbreakable characters. But, in addition to that, James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy will return in this movie as their Split characters. Also, Adam David Thompson and Sarah Paulson are in the cast of the movie.

The trailer of the movie has already impressed a lot of critics and people around the world and is the reason why the people and analysts of the industry are making this claim. Well, the claim was made by Variety as they stated that the thriller movie could collect a sum between $70-$75 million as it is going to open on the holiday weekend of Martin Luther King Jr.

Glass

You can say that the claims by Variety are too optimistic but the least they can earn is $50 million and I still think is a good figure to be associated with this movie. Well, the biggest difference between this and the previous two movies is that the hype is real this time for Glass.

Glass

Talking about the previous movies of Shyamalan, we can see that Unbreakable went on to earn a sum of $248.1 million across the globe whereas Split which was produced with a cost budget of $75 million by Disney and it went on to collect a sum of $278.5 million at the box-office.

Glass

This movie, Glass is getting distributed by Universal Pictures but it only cost $20 million to produce and is a quite big exception as we all know that the Blumhouse Productions are famous for making tremendous movies under the budget of $10 million. But, an increase in the budget of the movie will surely increase the quality of the movie.

Glass

Well, the movie is going to be centered around the conclusion which we saw in the movie Split, as David Dunn is the one who pursues The Beast persona of Kevin Wendell Crumb having a lot of escalating encounters in-between that. Also, the presence of Elijah Price is going to be an interesting one in the movie.

Glass

But, we have to say that the movie is going to challenge a lot of comic book movies out there as in an interview the director of this Unbreakable Trilogy, M Night Shyamalan expressed his views on the question whether you describe this as a movie about comic books or a comic book movie. In reply to this question, he stated,

Glass

I would say… the goal was a comic book thriller. That was the goal – that it should be like those two genetically fused. What does a thriller feel like? It’s a psychological thriller, so it always has that body of movement to it, but it has the colors of a comic book, and it has those moments in its allusions to those feelings of empowerment and of becoming who you are – origin stuff. That was the goal. And I think it took a while to get that balance right.

Glass

Also, the man expressed his views on the tricky question whether the Marvel Universe is in the world of this movie or not and to answer this question, he spoke every single word with a lot of concentration and focus as he didn’t want to reveal anything. He said,

Glass

I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but there’s a lot of references to the movie that it knows you think it’s going to be. It’s very aware of that, and it will tell you that, and then it becomes this other thing.
