5 Problems That Could Arise With Daredevil in The MCU (But Here’s The Fix!)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe never stops with the various tricks they have up their sleeves in order to surprise their fans. One of the biggest theories surrounding MCU was the appearance of Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. The fandom behind the Netflix Marvel series Daredevil was an absolutely brilliant take on the role with the dark tone and portrayals. Vincent D’Onofrio’s role as the character of Kingpin/Wilson Fisk is also equally beloved amongst the fans. It has been confirmed that Charlie Cox will be officially reprising the role of Daredevil in the MCU. While Charlie Cox’s confirmation in the role of Daredevil is actually exciting, it might actually cause 5 major problems in the MCU.

There have been a lot of theories surrounding Matt Murdock’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home based on a leaked photo. The theories suggested that Matt Murdock might end up helping Peter Parker through the legalities he will be facing based on the charges of having killed Mysterio. Kevin Feige confirmed this appearance as he said,

If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.

Let’s take a look at five problems that could be caused with Daredevil in the MCU:

The Netflix Arc Causes Major Plot Hole In The MCU

In the very early times during the run of the Daredevil series, it was considered to be a part of the MCU. There were clear indications for this because of the multiple references made to The Avengers, Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk. This actually eases the process of introducing the character to the MCU because this won’t cause many challenges in the overall narrative that we witnessed in the show. But at the same, there might be some major plot holes that could be introduced by making this arc work. We saw that Eternals had to have a lot of exposition done to set their arc over the years in the MCU but setting up Daredevil would require references to the events of the show. Considering Daredevil’s exploits made it to the newspaper, Iron Man or Nick Fury had to have heard of him.

Bringing Cox Back Means Other Netflix Marvel Heroes Must Return

Netflix had set up its own Marvel heroes universe because of the various shows that were released after the success of Daredevil. All these shows took a certain character and they were built around each other with The Defenders bringing all these heroes together against a common enemy. Considering MCU has decided to bring in Charlie Cox’s Daredevil it would be weird to leave the rest of the heroes behind. Seeing all these heroes come together in the MCU might be an extraordinary experience for the fans. But it would require one slight change being made in the form of recasting the character of Iron Fist because of the failure in the proper build-up of the character in the Netflix series.

Daredevil’s Supporting Cast Has To Be Brought In Too

Daredevil in the MCU

One of the biggest questions fans of MCU had ever since the idea of making the Daredevil series canon was what might have happened to the characters during the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. While fans have already assumed that Vincent D’Onofrio will also be making his return as Kingpin in the MCU, there are a lot of questions that require proper answering. Even keeping one character from the series requires bringing on board a lot of the characters from the series and setting them up in the MCU could be a difficult ordeal.

Netflix Has Already Developed The Arc Of Daredevil Quite A Lot

The Netflix series worked the arc of Matt Murdock/Daredevil in a rather brilliant manner and this is actually one of the reasons fans have wanted to see the character return. Introducing Daredevil in the series might prove to be a massive problem considering his appearance in the upcoming movies and shows might require a proper explanation. Marvel is known for being able to set up reasonable explanations for some of their proper fanservice moments and this includes the upcoming Spider-Man villains appearing in the MCU. But if Daredevil is brought in it would require the proper means of introducing him and setting up a better arc.

Cox’s Daredevil Does Not Align With Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

The theories surrounding Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home might actually come true based on the leaks. The comics, show Daredevil teaming up with Spider-Man and that could be quite an exciting thing to see in the MCU but it might not actually work out. There’s a certain age difference between the two characters and this will lead to some issues with the arc of both the characters in the MCU.

How To Fix These Problems?

Daredevil in the MCU

There is one way that all these problems could actually be fixed is by using a certain method that might end up saving the arc of Daredevil in the MCU. MCU could cast Charlie Cox based on the fact that the actor nails the character. The character could be set up as a completely new take in the MCU while letting us know that the Daredevils series and all other Marvel Netflix projects took place in a parallel universe. That way the MCU creatives would have total freedom to do whatever they want with Matt Murdock and his story.

They could tell the Daredevil vs. Bullseye story that was supposed to happen on Netflix in a different way. They could cast new actors for the other supporting and lead roles. This way the likes of Iron Fist could be recast while Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher could be kept. Let’s hope Marvel actually works out Daredevil and the others in the proper way.
