As 2018 draws to a close and the next year comes forth with new challenges and new promises for the world, Hollywood is prepping up to welcome a new age of superheroes. 2019 will cut the ribbon for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel movie featuring Brie Larson as the titular character. It is also supposedly featuring Jude Law as Mar-Vell, the Kree renegade who is rumoured to play a mentor figure to Carol Danvers. But as it turns out, Jude law’s character will not be just black and white. This new toy line leak has revealed startling revelations about Mar-Vell and we are still trying to wrap our heads around it. Presenting – New Captain Marvel toy-line reveals a completely different role for Jude Law!
Hasbro’s new toy line products of Captain Marvel and associated figures of Marvel Legends line of accessories has started to make the rounds of the internet. No sooner did the action figures came to the retail stores than the images are already being circulated far and wide throughout the world. And it features Jude Law, not as Captain Mar-Vell. But someone entirely else! Jude Law, the guy who has been nominated for the Oscars, will be playing Yon-Rogg – a classic Captain Marvel supervillain from the comic books.
All thanks to Twitter user @thejedijunkyard, we now have official info to back up this claim. Hasbro is an official partner for Marvel and they are licensed to produce and sell merchandise under the MCU banner. So it is safe to assume that Hasbro has better inside information than anyone else in the industry regarding beforehand knowledge about the characters in the upcoming movies. This information seems to a legitimate.
This is the official tweet confirming the news:
The description on the merchandise reads:
“Leader of the Starforce team,” the description says. “Yon-Rogg is a hero among the Kree and a key asset to the Supreme Intelligence in the war against the Skrulls.”
Although this is not the first time that Marvel has accidentally revealed Jude Law’s true role in the Captain Marvel movie. Just last month, images of Captain Marvel POP! Action figures leaked all over the internet and it featured Jude Law’s character as Yon-Rogg. Funko’s official site was quick to bury the hatchet on that one by claiming Jude Law’s character bore more resemblance to ‘Star Commander’ rather than Yon-Rogg.
Last day, Disney’s official website revealed Jude Law’s image with the caption reading – “Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Leader of the Starforce”. It was changed later to just “Leader of the Starforce” after some time. This is all pointing to a weak attempt at covering up the cauldron after the broth is already spilt on the floor.
When Jude Law was asked about his role in the movie, he gave very vague and cryptic replies. If the character Jude Law is playing is already known to the audiences far and wide, why is he trying to hide it? It all points to one thing and one thing only. Jude Law is not playing the good guy in the movie. He is not Mar-Vell. He IS Yon-Rogg indeed.
“He is driven by a belief in the divine leadership of the Kree people,” Law stated. “So he’s almost a devout warrior — unquestioning, conservative, but inspirational.”
They cannot fool us any longer. The truth is out there now. We hoped Marvel would be better at keeping their secrets intact. Turns out, Feige’s ship isn’t that tight after all. After a decade of making movies one after the other, Marvel Studios is getting incredibly sloppy. Get your groove back Marvel! This is not what the fans expect from a studio like yours!!!
The last Avengers movie to be released under the MCU banner was Avengers: Infinity War. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artefacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
