Hugh Jackman Reveals That he is Open to Playing a Superhero Apart From Wolverine

Hugh Jackman is the actor who held a Superhero for the longest time throughout his career. For 17 years and 9 movies, Jackman starred as our favorite mutant, Wolverine and no matter what Deadpool does in his time, he can never replace Wolverine from the throne.

Jackman is certainly popular for his role in the X-Men Universe and that is the role which actually ensured the career that he has had in Hollywood.

Jackman surely is one of the very best actors working in Hollywood but the role of Wolverine has to be credited for what he has become now. With every new movie that he did as the clawed mutant, people kept wanting more of him.

It was always like the bloodlust of Vampires, as we wanted to see Logan slash more and more people on screen. After a new outing as Wolverine, we always left the theatres wondering whether Jackman has one more in him or not.

Before Logan came out, he made it very clear that this has got to be his last outing as the character and he will be hanging up the claws. We are close to a 2 year anniversary of Logan and people still keep on asking him the same question, whether he would return as Wolverine or not. He keeps denying it time after time, but no one really wants that. After every new film, we always want just one more!

Not just us fans, but even various actors are relentless and want to see him return. People like Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth have said it many-a-times that they’ve been trying to convince Hugh of one more, but the result of those requests are still the same.

Jackman has moved on from the character for good and he is even open to playing a new Superhero for a change. He recently had an interview in lieu of his next movie “The Front Runner” on MTV, and there he was asked whether he’d be open to playing a new Superhero and here’s what he said:

Wolverine Hugh Jackman

“Oh yeah, I’d be open to that. Yeah, for sure. I mean… for me I never saw it as a superhero, even when I got Logan and I didn’t know much about the X-Men series or comic book series, I was like ‘these are great characters.’ All of these people are flawed characters. Sure they have extraordinary abilities, right, but they are all really flawed, and that’s what the movie’s about. That’s why people relate to it.”

He talked about the fact that the Superhero genre is growing & evolving with every new movie that comes out, and with them come unique characters who are very relatable characters underneath the shiny abilities.

“There’s a wish fulfillment of ‘I wish I had claws,’ but ultimately I’m like yeah, I know what it’s like to be marginalized. I know what it’s like not to be taken seriously or misunderstood. If only I had the bloody claws, so I see why they’re being so successful, and I’ve kind of been blown away. It certainly exceeded every expectation. They are getting better, better, and better.”

Just recently, he said that he is pretty positive for the return of Wolverine as he spoke on the weekly program Sunday Today with interviewer Willie Geist:

“Hugh Jackman – Oh, Wolverine will be back. Someone’s going to buy him, I don’t know.

Willie Geist – Not you though?

Hugh Jackman – No, but Ryan [Reynolds] is relentless.”

After so many failed trials, it seems that Reynolds has come to a conclusion that Hugh Jackman is done as the Wolverine. But still, it is good to know that he will not stop trying.

“I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He’s just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it.”

Keep trying Reynolds, and so will we!
