Here’s How The Fantastic Four Can Join The MCU

We all know what’s coming in this January when we think about Disney. 2019 is going to be a major year for Disney as they will be bringing out two major franchise ending films in the name of Avengers 4 & Star Wars IX. Other than that, they will be launching their exclusive streaming service called Disney+, but before all that, come this January Disney will be the proud owners of the assets of 20th Century Fox! And we all know for a fact that coming along with Fox are our favorite Marvel franchises – the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

There have been various suggestions and theories floating around the internet, which suggest how the X-Men and Fantastic Four could be incorporated into the MCU. The state in which the MCU currently is, it would be rather easier to bring in the Fantastic Four, rather than establishing the existence of Mutants all of a sudden.

But, given that Fantastic Four has already had 3 failed attempts on the big screen, people would certainly want to see something different done with those characters now. And for this, a redditor named ElectricalFinish has come up with his first ever theory which gives in a great way to establish the Fantastic Four, and the way they get their powers.

Fantastic Four MCU

We know that the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom get their powers due to a space fiasco, but if you consider how important the Quantum Realm is going to become in the coming phase of the MCU, the redditor theorizes that Marvel’s first family will take a trip to the Quantum Realm instead. Here’s what he wrote:

Fantastic Four MCU

“Okay, so we know that the quantum realm can change people’s biology, like how it changed Janet after staying in the quantum realm for so long, my idea is that Reed Richards doesn’t take Susan, Johnny, Ben (and maybe even Doom) to space, he takes them on a trip to the quantum realm, where a mishap with their ship or equipment cause them to have to abort their mission and try to leave the quantum realm in a hurry where the ship or something explodes, causing a wave of devastating quantum energy to hit them, I’m not exactly sure how each of them get their powers but stay with me here- Johnny could be the mechanic of the team and is closest to the engine room where the explosion happens, giving him is fire powers”

While the precedence of all this is great and things could really work out pretty well taking the Quantum Realm into consideration, it would be really important for Marvel to properly explain how exactly do a particular individual like Johnny Storm gets pyro powers that turn him into the Human Torch. The Redditor also suggests the ways in which those getting their powers could be explained:

Fantastic Four MCU

“Ben could have been taking soil/rock samples and gets his DNA merged with the ground or something.

Susan could have been testing the ships shields and whatnot, granting her the force-field powers.

Reed could have been just testing out some unknown substance in the quantum realm that was stretchy or something.

When they eventually leave the quantum realm (with an emergency ship or something) in a rush, they leave Doom behind who was also caught in the explosion and he is left to start absorbing quantum energy the way Janet did, but Instead of healing powers, he starts to get destructive energy powers.“

Fantastic Four MCU

This is a good theory to begin with and people may actually love it. But to do this right, the creatives would surely have to change the origins of these heroes and the major villain Doctor Doom, and that could be the cause of enraging a part of the fandom.

Fantastic Four MCU

Still, we’d love to see this happen within the MCU. It will not only bring the Quantum Realm forward for a much clearer picture, but the fact that Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed wants to bring the Fantastic Four  to life could also work pretty well for everyone.

Fantastic Four MCU

He has had a remarkable experience in exploring the Quantum Realm, and he also has another Ant-Man sequel coming in which would surely use the Quantum Realm even further. So, giving him the Fantastic Four franchise with a heavy involvement of the Quantum Realm will be a great idea!
