By now, most of you would know that the Captain Marvel Poster Credits scene links directly with the upcoming mega-blockbuster, i.e. Avengers: Endgame. Thankfully, because of this scene, we now know when exactly Captain Marvel will show up in the Avengers: Endgame. Marvel wasn’t giving away anything related to Endgame, and this actually tells us a lot. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie and don’t wanna know what happens in Avengers: Endgame can turn away.
Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame Spoilers Ahead
In the Post Credits scene, Captain Marvel shows up to the Avengers facility following Nick Fury’s Distress Signal. So she ends up meeting Black Widow, Captain America, Rhodey and Banner. What we have to notice here is that Captain America still has his beard. And since we have seen the Avengers trailer and TV Spot, we know that he is going to shave it off. That gives away the fact that Captain Marvel was present at the time of the trailers, and she will be getting plenty of screen time since the scene actually takes place at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame.
If you remember in the first Avengers: Endgame trailer, Black Widow was telling someone about what Thanos did. That person could actually be none other than Captain Marvel. Well, there are chances that it could also be Scott Lang, but after seeing the Mid Credits scene in Captain Marvel, it is highly likely that Natasha tells the story to Carol Danvers.
What’s great is that there was new footage recently shown at Disney Shareholders meet, and the description had found its way online. That scene will obviously take place after the post-credits scene. Check out the description if you haven’t:
“The footage starts out with the Avengers sitting in the room at the Avengers facility as was seen first trailer and Captain Marvel is also present along with the others (obviously). Nebula then comes out of the shadows and mentions that she thinks Thanos would go to “The Garden” after he completed his plan as this is what he used to tell her when he fixed her in the past.
Captain Marvel then takes a stand and tells the group that they need to go there, kill Thanos and use the stones to undo the Decimation. Bruce then asks her “what makes you think we’re going to win this time?” She replies “This time you’ll have me.” Rhodey then asks her “Where have you been all this time?” CM – “The other planets do not have the Avengers to save them.” We see Thor then stand up and call for his Stormbreaker. The axe whisks past Carol doesn’t even flinch. Thor says, “I like this one!”
The footage then showed Rocket, Thor, Nebula, Captain America, War Machine, and Black Widow in space while Carol is sitting in the front seat along with him. Rocket says something along the lines of, “Who has never been in space before? Raise your hand,” and that leads Steve, Nat and Rhodey to do that. He warns those 3 – “Do not puke on my ship.”
This makes it clear that Captain Marvel is going to have a huge role in Avengers: Endgame. Since she gets to spend so much time with the Avengers, we can assume that she would take some traits from the team which will help her run the new team post Endgame. She’s not called Captain Marvel yet, so we can assume that she will take the mantle post-Captain America’s sacrifice being inspired by what he did.
Here’s the new synopsis of Avengers: Endgame which comes out on April 26:
