12 Most Awaited Movies Releasing in November and December 2018
2018 has been full of massive Blockbusters. It is safe to say that the year has been dominated by Superhero movies, but we can’t deny the fact that there was a lot of variety in the films that came out this year. We are in the last phase of October 25, 2018, with Halloween currently making its mark in the theatres, but a slew of remarkable movies still have fans really excited. So here’s a list of the most awaited movies releasing in November and December 2018:
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
Disney’s next film in line may not be as big as the other Disney projects that have come out this year, but it will certainly be a movie worth watching in the theatres. While the film centers around Mackenzie Foy’s character, it still packs a huge cast of big-name actors like Keira Knightley and Morgan Freeman. Another incentive that Disney might add with this film is the trailer for Avengers 4. This magical adventure comes out on November 2.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Starring Rami Malek as the lead singer Freddie Mercury, this film is a foot-stomping celebration of the extraordinary music of Queen. Directed by Brian Singer who certainly is Fox’s go-to guy, this film will largely focus on the story of Freddie Mercury who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. This musical hit the theatres on November 2.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web: A New Dragon Tattoo Story
The sequel to A Girl with the Dragon Tattoo stars Claire Foy in the lead as the Superhacker Lisbeth Salander and Sverrir Gudnason as an investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist who find themselves intertwined at the center of a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt governments. Directed by Fede Alvarez, Sony’s next investment will surely give them a fruitful result when it comes out on November 9.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
The first Fantastic Beasts movie broke many records and lived up to the Harry Potter franchise as well, even though it was a prequel. At the end of the first movie, it was revealed that Johnny Depp is the real bad guy and he is going to reprise his role in the sequel. The portrayal of Jude Law as Dumbledore and his relationship with Grindelwald is what excites the fans a lot. Release: November 16.
Robin Hood
The quota of action movies is not done this year as we are yet to see a Robin Hood Reboot starring Taron Egerton as the titular character and Jaime Foxx in the supporting role. The trailers have had the fans to be really excited about the film as the film will have Robin Hood at the center being a war-hardened crusader who joins forces with a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown. This film is one of the three blockbuster films that are coming out on November 21.
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Disney’s second movie of November has us all really excited as this will be the sequel to 2012’s well-acclaimed animated blockbuster, Wreck-It Ralph. This film is going to be a giant event that brings so many properties of Disney together. It stars John C. Reilly as the voice of Wreck-It Ralph who leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet which might not actually manage to survive the wrecking of Ralph.
Amongst the 2 Disney movies coming out in November, this one certainly has a big Box Office potential, and since more people are going to watch the film, it is a major possibility that Disney could release the trailer for Avengers 4 along with this film. It opens on November 21.
Creed 2
Apollo Creed’s son who was played by actor Michael B Jordon is going to reprise his role in the movie along with the beloved character of Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa as his coach. The movie is bringing back one more beloved character from Rocky 4 who is the Russian boxer Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren. This is going to be a new chapter in the continued success story of Adonis Johnson/Creed. The film comes out on November 21.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse
Another big example of Sony using everything they own, which is basically the rights to Spider-Man and his entire Rogues Gallery. Apart from the live action movies, Sony is also investing big in the 3D Animation world of movies with Spider-Man, as they are bringing a very different and more established Spider-verse this time where Peter Parker is not the only Web Slinger any more. The story of this movie and possibly franchise will circle around Miles Morales version of Spider-Man. It hits the theatres on December 13.
Mortal Engines
While there is going to be quite a lot of competition in November and December, people might end up missing this film that has a great blockbuster capability. Coming from Universal Studios, this Christian Rivers Directed massively action-packed CGI event will follow the story of a mysterious young woman, Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) who emerges as the only one that can stop London which is now a giant, predator city on wheels. It will portray Hugo Weaving as the big villain of the story. This film has a high probability of getting bogged down by the audiences, but it shouldn’t be missed. Release: December 13.
Mary Poppins Returns
Disney’s next big budget adventure stars Emily Blunt as the mysterious Mary Poppins who returns to the Depression-era of London in 1930s, to visit Jane Banks and her brother Michael Banks who are now all grown up. Michael is now the father of 3 children. Poppins will help the two siblings remember the joy and wonder of life that they had when they were children after Michael suffers a personal loss. The film releases on December 19 and it will directly compete with the likes of Bumblebee and Aquaman.
Bumblebee
The last installment of the Transformers franchise was pretty bad and even though it did quite well on Box-office, it still lacked the critical acclaim. Well, people seem to be bored of the cliché Transformers movie and it is good that the makers are trying to do something very different with the franchise, i.e. bringing a solo spin-off movie by bringing in our favorite Autobot, Bumblebee and our favorite wrestler, John Cena in a movie together.
It releases on December 21 and looking at the trailers, we can believe that Paramount has focused on putting out a great story with the beloved Bumblebee.
Aquaman
This surely is the most anticipated film left to come out this year. The fans have been extremely psyched as the only DC movie to come out this year will be brought to us by the big name Director James Wan.
After Jason Momoa got a good introduction in Justice League the last year, we will now get to witness the origin story of the Aquaman, who is the son of Land and Sea. He will be the one to bridge the gap between the Atlanteans and the people living above the water surface.
The film will be focused upon a family drama that will have Arthur and his brother Orm fighting for the Throne of Atlantis as Orm will be the one who seeks to wage a war with the land dwellers, and Arthur will be the one who tries to stop him. Aquaman will swim to the theatres on December 21.
Honorable Mention – Homes & Watson
Coming out on December 25, this film will portray a funny take at the infamous detective Sherlock Holmes and his loyal friend and partner, Doctor John Watson. Starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, this will be Sony’s last film to come out this year and it will supposedly be a film worth the wait. You may have seen a lot of movies and TV Series portraying different takes of these two characters, but none of those are going to match the fun that this new one will bring.
