Avengers 4 is surely going to be the last movie for Steve Rogers as Captain America. We have been aware of this fact for quite a while as Marvel is looking to take things in a very different and unknown direction post-Avengers 4 and beyond. It will be almost as if we will have moved to a new MCU that we haven’t seen till now.
Avengers 4 will obviously be a game-changing event as it has a lot riding upon its shoulders. It has to be an epic conclusion to 21 movies prior to it, and along with that, it has to mark a new beginning for the future movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Chris Evans’ long contract with Marvel similar to the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth has been exhausted and he has made it clear that he will not be reprising his role anymore after Avengers 4. He said in an interview earlier:
“Well, you know, my contract is over, so that’s as far as I know. [I’ll miss] everything [about Captain America]. I mean, it’s not just the character, it’s the people – the experience, such good movies, such wonderful memories. I’ll miss a lot.”
He said in an earlier interview:
“You want to get off the train before they push you off. I used to have thoughts of wanting to climb to the top of something or wanting to be somebody. But when you get the thing that you think you want and then you wake up and realize that you still have pockets of sadness and that your struggle will reinvent itself, you stop chasing after those things and it is liberating, because you realize that right here, right now, is exactly all I need.”
So this indeed will be his final film in the MCU. Captain America has led the Avengers for so many years that it would be really emotional to see him go down. But he has the tendency to make the biggest sacrifice for the greater good, so it is highly likely that he won’t come out of Avengers 4 alive.
People were really excited for him in Infinity War having seen the rugged Nomad look, but the larger plot of the film did not give him much to do.
Although, that has been the guilt of the Russos and they have promised the fans that Cap will be getting an extended story arc which will be worthy of his final outing in the MCU. Keeping this in mind, we can safely say that we will get to see the best of Captain America in Avengers 4.
Looking at the set photos of Avengers 4 where Cap is in his suit from the first Avengers movie, it has been noted that he is holding some kind of stick in his hands.
Since Time Travel is going to be a major plot point in the film, it is believed that this scene will take place during the battle of New York when Tony and Scott will have come back in time to change the events of the past. So in this particular scene, the stick in Cap’s hand is believed to portray the fact that he is also worthy of lifting the Mjolnir.
If Captain America has to go out with a bang, then this could be a great moment of his exit. He could leave the MCU proving that he is worthy of the power of Mjolnir. This scene could become very iconic, and Ultraway26 has imagined it in the best way possible!
This very moment could be the biggest for Captain America and we would love to see it happen in Avengers 4. Rest we will only find out about it when Avengers 4 does hit the theatres and that will be on May 3, 2019. Here’s the official synopsis of Avengers 4:
“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
