The Time Stone was introduced in Doctor Strange, and God wasn’t that a unique entry into the MCU. The fans loved what Doctor Strange had to do with the Infinity Stone. He tricked an evil immensely powerful lord to actually bend to his will. No one on Earth knows about the threat Doctor Strange saved them from. He battled hard against Thanos and laid an elaborate plan to take him down as well. Only he doesn’t know it yet and will soon find out in Avengers 4.
Just like the fans, many people actually think that Doctor Strange could have used the Time Stone to actually do something insane, but he did not actually use his most powerful weapon, and instead just handed it over to him. He has used the stone to see 14,000,605 alternate futures, but we are yet to see the full might of the Time Stone.
So far it has only been used for 5 significant things, saving Hong Kong, pushing Dormammu away, seeing the future, bringing back Vision and the Mind Stone, and Thanos supposedly traveling to Titan from the past. But compared to what will happen in Avengers 4, all of this was pretty small!
We can’t predict how Thanos will use the Time Stone, but we know for sure that Marvel is going to some something insane with it. It has the potential to change the course of the entire MCU, and the use of Time Travel and the Time Stone would bring exactly that. While we don’t know what is going to happen, a Redditor named Neirdark has come up with his own theory which gives in a negative impact that the Time Stone may have if not used properly.
Here’s what his theory reads:
“This theory is short and based on the effects we saw in the MCU. The infinity stones are powerful and devices are needed to use them properly. Here what happens without those devices.
The space stone teleported Red Skull through space.
The soul stone turned him into a wandering soul, unable to quit the planet. He traded a soul for a soul and got cursed after getting his hand on the stone.
The power stone is made of pure energy and incinerates the holder. (GOTG).
The mind stone turns people insane, super sane or overly aggressive (behaviors of Ultron, Vision and effects of the specter on the Avengers).
The reality stone erases the holder from reality, slowly drawing strength from its life force.
The time stone probably teleports people through time, projects people into the Quantum realm or in unending loops of time.”
Doctor Strange used the time loop to his biggest advantage against Dormammu, but it can turn into the biggest drawback as well. But I doubt Marvel will repeat the same gig again. People want to see something new and I guess they would get that instead. Let’s see what insane direction the Directors Joe & Anthony Russo and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have planned for the MCU.
Avengers 4 will presumably star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tessa Thompson, Evangeline Lilly, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum and Brie Larson.
The title of the movie should be revealed this very month. That would enable Marvel to launch a trailer in late November or even early December just like they did with Avengers: Infinity War. This movie may even turn out to be bigger than Infinity War. Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers 4:
“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
