With the new seasons of all the Arrowverse shows having begun now, people are getting really excited about this year’s big crossover event which will hit The CW in December. The last few days have amped the hype for the crossover with the insane set photos that have shown up on the net. Things are going totally out of control, and some could argue that the Elseworlds Crossover does seem a bit confusing at this point in time. But apparently, the 3-night crossover will be packed with goodies like the Black Suit Superman.
It was revealed a while ago that this year’s big event will also involve Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman and Lois along with Supergirl. Here’s what the EPs of Supergirl, Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner released in their statement for the Arrowverse Crossover:
“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”
While the poster of the crossover had people being really confused with Grant Gustin playing Green Arrow and Stephen Amell playing the Flash in the crossover, people were amazed to see Superman’s iconic Black Suit from the comics.
But amongst the big questions that we have about the 3-night event, the one that’s stuck is certainly about how the Black Suit of Superman comes into the picture.
Since the title states “Elseworlds,” we could imagine that the 3 episodes will most likely be exploring the boundaries of the multiverse, flushing out different versions of Flash, Green Arrow, Supergirl and apparently Superman.
The way these recent set images have showed the Black Suit Superman, the big question that comes to our mind is that what if this version of Superman is a villain in this event. In the image that we can see above, Sups seems to be reading some sort of manuscript.
One may think that this may be some old Kryptonian text, but something about this particular image just wreaks nothing but evil! The next image shows Superman supposedly down after a battle, so that does act as salt on fire.
This manuscript that Sups is reading seems to be the mantra to summon some dark lord from the DCTV multiverse (at least this is what it feels like). So, we could assume the fact that this version of Superman is going to be evil. But we can safely claim that Superman will only be ‘a’ villain and not ‘the’ villain of the crossover.
The main villain has to be someone else. Not that Superman isn’t capable of being the villain (as he mostly is these days), it is just that things will get too repetitive if that turns out to be the case.
Also, we know it for a fact that somewhere down the line, the original Superman from Cara’s Earth is also going to be involved along with Lois. We will have a clear picture of it once we get the first promo for the crossover event.
Also, a big takeaway for this year’s event is that we will see Green Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl going to Gotham City as they learn about the evil schemes of a sinister doctor at Arkham Asylum and that is where Ruby Rose’s Batwoman will make her debut.
So, if you do a headcount, this year’s crossover would possibly feature Green Arrow, the Flash, Supergirl, Wild Dog, Mr. Terrific, Spartan, Black Canary, Killer Frost, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Felicity, Iris, Vibe, Guardian, Lois, Alex, and Batwoman.
That’s a pretty packed cast already and I’m pretty sure I would have missed a couple of names on the roster. Still, it is safe to say that we would probably not miss the Legends with so many people already being featured in the Crossover.
The CW released the image for the crossover a while ago, and as you can see, this image contains the air dates of the three-night crossover event which will begin with The Flash on Sunday, December 9 at 8 pm ET, then Arrow will continue it on Monday, December 10 at 8 pm ET and Supergirl will give us the final on Tuesday, December 11 at 8 pm ET.
