Top Gun showed us the limits that Tom Cruise’s Pete Maverick Mitchell is willing to go beyond just so he could be one above the notch. The movie is heralded as a mother of all cult classics for a reason. Top Gun was a movie that did not rely on many special effects or too much melodrama. They had a good and talented but young star cast, Tom Cruise and a good storyline. But the highlight of the movie was not the actors. It was the Fighter Jets, the big brimming steel monsters with wings that soared through the skies and cut it into two like a hot knife through butter.

In 1986’s Top Gun, Cruise rides what is famously known as an F-14 Tomcat fighter jet. It is an interceptor and an air superiority fighter with swept wing technology, a technology that was way ahead of its time when the Tomcat ruled the skies. Maverick and Iceman rode the Tomcat which got them through heaps of trouble and delivered when the situation was at its direst. But the Tomcat has been retired from active service since 2006.
Top Gun was an old movie and since the sequel is coming out thirty-two years later, Top Gun: Maverick cannot afford to make Tom Cruise ride that powerful but old beast again. Cruise needs a fighter jet that is advanced enough to leave the contenders behind. And he has got just the thing in the movie which is currently in production.

Paramount Pictures reveals that Tom Cruise will play the role of Maverick again in the sequel. It will show Maverick as an instructor to a slew of new air force pilot recruits that need some necessary orders to be barked at by Cruise. Tom Cruise will be riding the aircraft shown in the above picture.
And Paramount Pictures has recently confirmed that Maverick has never left the Air Force since 1986 in terms of movie continuity. That would mean Maverick has given more than thirty years of his life to the service. This could be reflected in the movie, with Maverick showing the toll giving so much to the Force has taken on his mind and body.
The movie features Jon Hamm and Ed Harris in the lead roles. It will also see several actors from the original movie come back to reprise their roles. Top Gun released in the year 1986. The official synopsis of the movie reads:
