Flash Season 5 New Set Photo Confirms Time Travel Will Have A Big Role To Play

CW’s Flash is entering into its fifth season, and there have been ups and downs in the show’s journey. The first two seasons were intriguing, slick and had strong villains; but last two seasons struggled on all those fronts. The details of the new season are still under wraps but set photos have started to surface and shared online.

One of the most popular plot devices for the makers of ’The Flash’ has been Time travel. It’s been used effectively by writers and every-time Flash breaks the time-space continuum, the narrative reaches to a whole new level.

This set image from the new season confirmed that there will be time travel. Barry Allen aka Flash is seen donning an old costume embedded with red chest emblem and the caption reads:

“What have you done Nora?” with reference to Nora West-Allen.

In season 4, Team Flash figured out a way to defeat ‘The Thinker’ by teaming up with his wife who knew how his mind works. He was the smartest man alive and was always way ahead of Team Flash. He wanted to introduce enlightenment into the world by cleansing humanity of any intelligence and influence of modern technology. In the end, his sinister plan couldn’t succeed.

In the last episode, the show teased the larger plot that will mark season 5. The identity of the ‘Mystery Girl’ was revealed who first appeared in the 1st episode of Arrowverse crossover event “Crisis on Earth-X” at Barry’s wedding and then she gate-crashed Joe and Cecile’s baby shower party. She was none other than Nora West Allen, future daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West.

Well, she broke the golden rule of being a speedster – Never alter the timeline! Barry Allen, her father, learned the hard way when he saved her mother from Man in a yellow suit and introduced ‘Flashpoint’ but it had disastrous consequences as time will always find a way, as explained by Prof. Wells. But Nora Allen explained that there is a huge mistake committed in the future and this was the only way.

The villain of season 5 is Desmond Paull, an immortal meta-human who has the powers to rid other metas of their powers, his objective is to eliminate meta-humans from the Central city for good. Desmond is likely a front name of one of the famous villains from Flash’s Rogues gallery – Cicara.

The executive producer of ‘The Flash’ Todd Helbing shared his opinion on the seasons and villains till now, here’s what he said:

“There are certainly speedsters in the cannon of Flash that we want to explore and we want on the show and everybody… Like Reverse Flash to me personally is one of my favorite villains, one of my favorite speedsters, so I’d love that guy to pop up now and then, you know what I mean? But I think it was refreshing, and it’s just been a lot of fun this year not having to constantly come up with new ideas of how a speedster could pose a threat to Barry. So, it’s fun, and it’s new, and it’s a new challenge, but I think having speedsters in the mythology of the show is never going to change.”

“I think having Zoom and then followed up by Savitar, you know, I can understand that feeling. It’s because trying to reinvent, you know, like a new power for an evil speedster or what they can do … Like we can’t have it just who’s faster for the entirety of a series.”

“The Thinker literally is the smartest guy on the planet, so there’s a lot of chess pieces that he’s moving around simultaneously. As Team Flash is figuring out who he is and what they think the plan is, there’s a lot of fun as we show the audience information and then have our team catch up to that information or surpass it. It’s a big mystery.”
