The Month of May has been huge fore Marvel movie fans as we got to see two mega Superhero movies on the big screen taking each other on in a fight that may not be on fair grounds, but are still great in their own separate criteria. Avengers: Infinity War as we know has blown through the roofs and managed to do something really big which no other movie has ever done. Deadpool 2, on the other hand, is a movie in the R-Rated department where there are no limits to what they could pull off. So a comparison amongst the two big movies of the previous month is justifiable.
Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest and probably the best MCU movie ever. This was not your typical Marvel movie which is just a light hearted fun adventure, but it was way more than that, having real stakes and consequences. The movie was a complete package as it had emotion, drama, suspense, thrill, humour, sci-fi moments and hard core action. The movie ended in the most thrilling way possible and you would never have seen it coming and seeing the end we all had our jaws dropped on the floor.
Deadpool 2 was sheer excellence. We’d think that how can they top the class of the first Deadpool but to their credit, they actually did! Deadpool 2 was bigger, better, funnier and sexier than the one we got before. It was a complete package as it had really insane humour as you would laugh throughout the movie. Along with that, the movie had tonnes of Easter Eggs and a lot of surprise cameos which actually added to the humour, really crisp action sequences (well that came with the best Action director attached), emotion, great character building and one of the most typical Deadpool (awesome) endings you could ever imagine.
So let’s compare the two movies and see who wins on each front.
Infinity War as we know has no comparison in this head from any movie! In 34 days, Avengers: Infinity War has managed to gross over $1.9 Billion with a budget of around $300 Million. It brought in $257 Million within the first three days! Deadpool 2, on the other hand, has been out for just 2 weeks and it has managed to bring in a hefty $500 Million+. Since it is an R-Rated movie, it is expected to gross less, but in terms of profitability ratio, it may end up beating Avengers Infinity War as it was made for just $110 Million. Still, it is pretty neck to neck, and for now, Avengers: Infinity War does seem to be leading the race.
Well, Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War have both managed to shine in this category. Both these movies have been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and have got an equal %83 Percent fresh rating from the critics who have reviewed each of the movies. But since Avengers: Infinity War was much bigger in scale and scope, and it also had way more characters than Deadpool, we have to give this one to Infinity War as well.
Since Infinity War was directed by the Russo Brothers, we knew what we could expect from them in the action department as they have proven to be quite amazing with Winter Soldier and Civil War. but as it turned out, the movie had a lot of story to tell, so it focussed on shot action sequences. They were great without a doubt, but the action was actually less. Deadpool 2, on the other hand, was directed by David Leitch, the best action Director currently working in Hollywood. So it was surely supposed to deliver in the action department. The action was crisp, intense and most of all satisfying. So, this criteria is won by Deadpool 2.
While Infinity War maintained its typical MCU humor, it was dialled down a bit to raise the stakes and make the tone a little darker than usual. Deadpool 2 on the other hand blew through the roof in this department. Deadpool has the opportunity to poke fun at anything and everything and it did deliver on that part. Bringing in some amazing cameos, and breaking the fourth wall on a regular basis, Deadpool 2 surely wins this one.
Infinity War brought in an insanely intricate plot which interweaved the stories and characters of 18 movies altogether, and still managed to give us the ultimate thrill and fan pleasing moments throughout. The story was able to leave a huge impact upon us. Deadpool 2 on the other hand was a little thin on the plot similar to the previous Deadpool movie. It was great fun, but it won’t beat Infinity War upon the storyline.
So, Avengers: Infinity War wins 3-2 against Deadpool 2. It was clearly the better film without a doubt. Other than these 5 categories, Infinity War would beat Deadpool 2 when it comes to the villain of the movie, and it also had the better ending even though what Deadpool did was totally opposite of one may expect.
