The MCU has grown really big in the last 10 years, and it will be releasing the 20th movie in the franchise within just 15 days. Ant-Man and the Wasp will surely be a light-hearted tonal shift after the little darker ending was displayed by Avengers: Infinity War and hopefully, the Marvel magic that has made history this year continues to do so a third time as well.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is going to be much bigger and better than the first Ant-Man movie as it has a bigger cast with some big comic book characters coming in, more intricate plotting and the fact that the movie will answer some of the big questions posed by Infinity War by revealing that where exactly were the two insect heroes during the mega event and what have they been up to. This alone hypes us as fans because we surely want to know that where exactly was a big player like Ant-Man when the entire Universe was at risk.
Like the first movie, Director Payton Reed is bringing us the sequel as well and as we can see apparently through the trailers, Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne is getting a big push in the movie. After being set up throughout the first movie, she will be flapping her wings in the second one getting a much bigger role in this one, coming to the centre stage with Ant-Man. This is why the title of the movie is not just Ant-Man 2, as the Wasp is going to have a major involvement, having her own separate mission other than Ant-Man’s.
Here’s what the mission of Hope Van Dyne would be in the movie according to Director Reed:
“The mission that is happening with her, entirely separate of Scott, is vital. And it’s her mission. It’s not her dad’s mission. It’s her mission,” Reed explained, adding that while Lilly’s Hope is working with Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, Hope is the one who calls the shots. “It’s really Hope leading in charge and that was an important thing when we started talking about what was going on, is the what and why of this mission.”
This was reported by Collider as they got to interview the Director of the movie. they also got to do certain set visits for this movie, where they hinted that the movie will have various different missions, but now the director has confirmed the fact that the movie will focus a whole lot on Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, Janet Van Dyne. Here’s what he said:
“The big mission is to find Janet. What that means ultimately for our characters on a personal level is one thing. What it means for the larger world is another thing. And all the other things are really, you know, stumbling blocks on the path.”
Well, let’s hope that having these new characters like Bill Foster and Janet Van Dyne does not take away from the villain of the movie, Ghost played by Hannah John Kamen. Since 2015, Marvel is having a streak of putting out 5 great villains in 5 different movies, and we as fans would surely not like for that streak to be broken with Ghost. So far, everything looks good, but a many times, it does happen that the movie ends up disappointing the audiences after the trailers have really hyped the film.
Another major aspect that this movie will dive into is the Quantum Realm, which will also play a major role in introducing time travel in Avengers 4. Ant-Man and the Wasp will come out on July 6 and here is the official Synopsis of the film:
“From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.”
