Kevin Feige Confirms The Exact Timelines of Ant-Man And The Wasp & Avengers: Infinity War

Ant-Man and the Wasp is coming out in just 10 days, and the 20th movie in the MCU is certainly going to set the mood after the dark and saddening end Infinity War made us bear with. This movie is going to be really important for Phase 3 and both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. As the trailers have confirmed, Ant-Man and the Wasp is going to be a prequel to Infinity War but we don’t really know when exactly the movie takes place. This article is about the Ant-man and the Wasp Timeline, the way Kevin Feige confirms it.

There were two years between Infinity War and Civil War, and in that duration, movies like Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming took place. While Ragnarok may have been more towards Infinity War, both Spider-Man and Black Panther were closer to Civil War, almost right after it. Doctor Strange, on the other hand, may have begun before Civil War but it surely ended after that.

Ant-Man And The Wasp & Avengers: Infinity War

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be another movie which will be in the aftermath of Civil War since Scott Lang has now had a deal with the government after escaping the Raft, and he has been on house arrest ever since, living with his daughter Cassie. Ant-Man and the Wasp will bring him back as Hope and Hank will recruit him again since he is the only one who has been to and returned successfully from the Quantum Realm. They will recruit him to bring back Janet Van Dyne, who has been stuck in the Quantum Realm for almost two decades.

 Ant-man and the Wasp Timeline

This movie is going to majorly answer where Ant-Man and the Wasp were during Infinity War, and it will lead them right into Avengers 4. Well, there have always been movies in the MCU that take place as prequels or have some time overlapping, and this will certainly not be the last time that this happens according to Marvel president Kevin Feige.

Here’s what Feige had to say about the timelines of both Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp:

“I think that’s happened in the past as well. We just haven’t called it out as directly but the notion of this was always to be a relative stand alone film that took into account what was a fun cameo in Civil War, was really a giant deal and a big sacrifice for [Scott Lang] in his real life in his relation with his daughter and his relationship with Hank and Hope and this guy whose entire first movie was about becoming a good guy and coming out of prison and trying to make the right life for himself, which he did and he became a hero. He answered a call when heroes needed him and now he’s been under house arrest for two years.”

This movie is going to bring Wasp to the center stage as we are already pretty much aware about Ant-Man, but the Wasp has only been teased. Through all the reviews and reactions that have hit the net until now, one thing for certain is that The Wasp will totally steal the show! Marvel will surely have future plans for her even after Avengers 4 and here’s what Feige had to say about her future in the MCU:

“I think [Evangeline Lilly has] talked about it. There’s already been additional Wasp filming of her for future movies but she’s great. This whole movie was about putting her at the forefront and was about making good on the promise of the end of the last film where she says, ‘About damn time,’ and that whole movie was about the fact that clearly she was qualified to put on a suit and do what was right but she kept being prevented by her father, for reasons that were revealed in that film and reasons that have to do with her mother and now, of course, she becomes the key hero to attempt to rescue her mom. Seeing that father-daughter relationship repaired in this movie was something that was great fun for us and to see her step in the forefront. That’s why we picked Evangeline the first time because we knew she’d be an unbelievable hero.”

So, we could expect something really big from this sequel, and it is being called the best ever since The Winter Soldier came out. Ant-Man and the Wasp hit the theatres on July 6.
