Avengers: Infinity War is out and all the fanboys in the world have been provided with the ultimate satisfaction. The movie delivered on every aspect. It had emotion, drama, suspense, thrill, humor, sci-fi moments and hardcore action. Fans going into the movie would not be able to see what’s coming no matter how much they think they know about the movie. This movie was the ultimate thriller pleasing anyone and everyone.
But as the movie ended and the credits started to roll, leaving the audiences to figure out what exactly happened in the movie. This was the best part of the movie, as when it ended there was a constant shout of “What the Hell?” throughout the theatre. People were astonished to see their favorite Avengers bite the dust, or become dust would be a more accurate description. Now we don’t know that who all will be returning after their death in Infinity War.
Here are the characters who died throughout the course of the movie:
Heimdall
The course of death began with the Asgardians, and the first character of relevance to die was Thor’s best friend Heimdall. Seeing the Hulk losing the battle against Thanos, he beamed him straight to Earth so that he could warn the Avengers about the incoming threat. This angered Thanos and he stabbed him in the heart. This death is likely to be permanent as there is no big need of Heimdall anymore.
Loki
Loki has had a gradual shift to the side of the heroes and over here, being the God of Mischief, he started off as if he is again going to join the side of the evil Thanos. But as everything he does, this was also a ploy played by him to distract Thanos as this time he understood that the threat of Thanos was pretty real, so he decided to do the right thing and take down Thanos himself.
Since Thanos is not a being that can be easily trifled with, Loki had to pay for what he tried to pull off and met his demise at the hands of Thanos. like Heimdall, Loki has also fulfilled his purpose and may not revive, but given that we have seen some set photos that show time travel sequences involving Loki, we know that Hiddleston will be back.
Gamora
The Soul Stone was at Vormir. As it turned out, Thanos had previously sent Gamora on a mission to find the Soul Stone and she did, but she lied to Thanos about it. Here, to save Nebula, she had to reveal the location to Thanos, and hence she took him there. The trailers for Infinity War teased the relationship between Thanos and his favorite daughter. So, this gave rise to a particular theory suggesting the reason why the Soul Stone has not appeared till now, is because it requires a big sacrifice of the soul of a loved one, a soul for a soul.
This is what happened in the movie as Thanos sacrificed his beloved daughter Gamora, the only person he loved in this universe to get the Soul Stone. But given that she is the one who actually holds the Guardians together and Vo. 3 being on the horizon, she needs to be back in the next movie. Also, we have seen her in the set photos alongside Ant-Man and the Wasp, so she is coming back.
Vision
Vision was killed by Scarlet Witch as she had to pay the price of being a hero, killing her loved one for the greater good of humanity destroying the Mind Stone with him, but Thanos actually brought him back using the Time Stone, and brutally murdered the enhanced android himself, retrieving the Mind Stone from his head. Since Feige mentioned that Infinity War will have permanent deaths, we may not be seeing the return of Vision ever again.

The White Wolf
As Thanos Snapped his fingers using the full power of the Infinity Gauntlet, we saw that people started to perish slowly and steadily. The first person to turn into ash was none other than Bucky. His dying word was in total disbelief as he saw and felt himself dying, calling out his best friend’s name “Steve”. Since Sebastian Stan has a big contract pending, he will probably return in the next movie.
Falcon
Another prospect of becoming the future Cap, and Steve’s second best friend, Sam Wilson aka Falcon was also seen turning into dust. Like Bucky, he may also carry the future of the MCU, so he will probably be back.
Scarlet Witch
After trying to save the Universe by being the only one who could destroy the Mind Stone, she did kill Vision and the Time Stone but that went in vain as Thanos reversed time and retrieved the Stone for himself. Then came in the snap of the fingers that caused the demise of Wanda as well. Since she died as a result of the Finger snap, she may return as well.
Star-Lord
We suspected that Star-Lord may stay alive to join the Avengers and even answer for the consequences of his foolishness, as he could not control his feelings, and that is what ultimately caused the snap to happen. But surprisingly, he also met death as a consequence of the finger snap. He is also expected to return as Guardians 3 is coming in 2 years, and he is the leader of the team.
Groot
Groot’s death was very emotional for Rocket, as he was the only one the Rabbit loved the most out of the pack. Seeing him die again was very sorrowful for the audiences as well. So, Rocket will do anything to try to bring him back.
Drax
Being with the Guardians on Titan we had to see the demise of Drax as well. The Destroyer got destroyed as a result of the Infinity Stones’ power. If all other Guardians are coming back, then he would surely be returning as well.
Mantis
Looking at Mantis and her powers, we thought that what good would she be against Thanos, but actually, she was one of the most crucial warriors against the Mad Titan as she is the one who altered his feelings making him unconscious so that the Avengers could get a chance to take the Gauntlet off. But she also met her demise being eviscerated and is expected to return.
Doctor Strange
Strange probably saw this coming as he saw the future, but was willing to be a part of this ploy as he has already died the most number of times, so he was ready for it once more. Strange played a move that will come into play in the longer run as Thanos will be defeated in the next movie. Now, since Strange does have probably 2 more solo movies coming in, we know that he is going to be back.
Nick Fury and Maria Hill
Fury and Hill were also among the Universe’s population that got eviscerated by Thanos. But since he had the biggest trump card in his pocket, he played that and we will see Captain Marvel come in the future movies, who will probably owe Fury and will bring him back along with Hill.
Black Panther
One of the most shocking heroes to go out this way was T’Challa, aka the Black Panther. He is the newly found big gun of MCU and has a lot to offer to the world being alive, so Marvel is not so stupid that they will kill this hero and the Billion Dollar franchise along with him. He will surely be back.
Spider-Man
Probably the most emotional one out of all other disintegrations was of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. He died in the arms pleading that he does not want to go, and that is what brought tears to everyone’s eyes. But since he died in the same way and has immediate sequels coming in, we know that he will be resurrected.
The reason why all the characters who went out at the end of the movie will be back is that of a prevailing theory that they did not actually die, but their Souls were pulled into the Soul World. So the leftover Avengers are going to make sure that they undo what Thanos did, and bring back everyone. It may even take the sacrifice of our favorite heroes like Iron Man and Captain America.

Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
