Up until now, we have had only glimpses of the DCEU’s next big thing. Shazam! aka Billy Batson of the DC Extended Universe is getting his own solo movie. His standalone would be starring Zachary Levi as the titular superhero. The Director of Shazam! has been really secretive about releasing any viable details regarding the Superhero. Even the actors have been sworn to secrecy. The very costumes of the characters on screen are being kept under lids. Until now, we could only have faraway glances at Zachary Levi’s Shazam costume taken by fans from faraway rooftops. But now the DCEU has released the official look of Shazam. Presenting Shazam! – First official Look of Zachary Levi in Costume released online!!!
The Shazam suit is here and it looks stunning. The costume features some pretty insane texture work along with the tinge of red and gold the suit is known for. The suit obviously does feature the Golden Lightning that is the emblem of the World’s Mightiest Mortal like it has been since the very beginning of the superhero’s comic book career. The Shazam suit also features a white hood like it does in Captain Marvel’s New 52 version. The white cape has been changed to give it a more modern look now.
The costume has been out in the internet and it looks absolutely amazing. Zachary Levi was recently in attendance of a Licensing Expo in the city of Las Vegas and that is when the suit tweaked its head. The photo shows Zachary Levi pointing to his own picture as the latter picture reveals Levi wearing the Red and Gold Shazam costume.
Here is the picture:
The Shazam! movie enjoys utmost secrecy thanks to the Director instructing everyone to keep mum regarding any developments. The movie features an ensemble cast which includes Zachary Levi as Shazam aka Billy Batson, Mark Strong plays Doctor Sivanna aka Shazam’s arch nemesis, and a host of other actors that includes Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milan. The Rock is also a part of the Shazam movie. He will be coming to the DCEU as the anti-hero Black Adam sometime in the future. For now, he will be an executive producer for Shazam alongside Jerry Chernov, Christopher Godsick, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.
Daniel Eliesen, who was the director of DC’s Consumer Products showcase during Shazam’s initial marketing and promotions campaigns, had this to say about Levi teasing the fans by posting the picture of the Shazam costume online.
“WB brought out Zack Levi to tease Shazam and I was super impressed. A lot of amazing set photos including the whole Shazam family in costume. The feel of the movie is “Big” meets “Superman”.
It was most certainly awesome. How did you like the Shazam costume? Was it up to the mark? Will this movie break the DCEU curse?
The movie is set for a release date of April 5, 2019. The official description for Shazam! reads:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
The next movie in line to be released under the DCEU banner is Aquaman, being directed by none other than James Wan. The official film synopsis for Aquaman reads:
Aquaman finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt.
