With Infinity War coming to the end of its theatrical run, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to start looking over the horizon for a change now. The third Avengers movie brought about colossal changes to the very foundations of the Marvel Universe, some of them being touted as staying permanent. Many heroes gave their lives fighting Thanos as he wiped off half the life in the galaxy at the snap of his fingers after he collected all the six stones and assembled them in a gauntlet.
The Directors of Infinity War expressed their thoughts on the ending and its impact on Avengers 4. Here’s what they said:
“Anthony Russo – It’s hard to talk about because it’s so specific to the ending, what’ he’s talking about.
Joe Russo – We will say this, obviously Thanos is a very formidable villain and to beat Thanos will come at a very high cost. We’re committed to stakes, we believe in stakes, and we like to shake up the Marvel Universe. We had a big game-changer at the end of Winter Soldier, had a big game-changer at the end of Civil War, a big game-changer at the end of Infinity War. Obviously, there will be a big game changer at the end of Avengers 4.”
The future of the Avengers in the MCU looks bleak. Or Does it? Avengers 4 will be the second part of the two-part storyline that is the Infinity War saga. What does Avengers 4 hold for the MCU? What secrets will unravel when the next Avengers movie hits the theaters next year?? Here’s what the Infinity War writers have said:
Markus – “[Avengers 4] doesn’t do what you think it does. It is a different movie than you think it is. Also…[the deaths are] real. I just want to tell you it’s real, and the sooner you accept that the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief”.
McFeely – “Put it this way. I think [Infinity War] is a fairly mature movie for a blockbuster. It’s got a lot of fun in it, obviously, but boy, it gets very mature. The second one is also mature. We’re going to own these choices, and hopefully surprise and delight you and get you invested. It’s by the same studio, the same filmmaking team. They were written at the same time, shot at the same time. They’re clearly connected, but they are definitely two different movies, one of which is dependent on what happened previously”.
Presenting Avengers 4: What we know so far about the Infinity War Sequel!!
The Title is a secret and will probably give away the plot
There is a reason Avengers 4 is untitled. The Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo, co-directors of Infinity War along with Kevin Feige have confirmed that the title of Avengers 4 will matter a lot and there is a reason they haven’t revealed it to the public yet. The title was rumored to be Avengers: Secret Wars and some even claimed it was Avengers: Endgame. Al these rumors have been debunked to be false.
Avengers 4: Infinity Gauntlet is most definitely not the title
The bizarre ending of Infinity War led many to believe that Avengers 4 will be titled Infinity Gauntlet. The news that Infinity War saga will be a two part storyline in the MCU gave weight to this rumor. But the thing is, this is utterly false as well.
Even though Avengers 4 will be a continuation of Infinity War, it does not have to be an absolute sequel to it and most likely won’t pick up where Infinity War left. It could be a whole new storyline based on the aftermath of the events of Infinity War.
Avengers 4 will be the end of the MCU as we know it
Wrap up will be the mantra of Avengers 4. Chris Evans’ contract with Marvel Studios is ending. So is Robert Downey Jr’s. A lot of the founding members will be leaving the MCU after Avengers 4. Chris Evans’ contract actually ended after Infinity War but he decided to stay for one more movie as “it made sense.”
Chris Hemsworth will stay in the MCU after Avengers 4
Thor is sticking around for a little bit longer than expected. With the rise in popularity of the Norse God of Thunder within the Marvel Universe, we can’t say he is overstaying his welcome. Hemsworth has been vocal about continuing his role as Thor in the MCU provided there is a good enough script.
The Wasp and Captain Marvel are in it
Evangeline Lily’ The Wasp was neither in Infinity War nor was she in Civil War. But she is set to make her official debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp. She will most definitely feature in Avengers 4.
While Captain Marvel was only seen as an Easter egg in Infinity War, with the release of her movie set between Avengers 3 and Avengers 4, expect her to make an entrance too.
Hawkeye sports a new look and it might be a SPOILER
The fact that Hawkeye doesn’t appear in Infinity War at all was unnerving. He will be seen in Avengers 4 sporting a whole new look. Rumors claim it looks quite similar to the comic books when Hawkeye put on the costume of Ronin. That rings all kinds of alarm bells in our heads.
The Next Spiderman movie is set right after Infinity War….like literally
The Death of Peter Parker is not permanent. That much anyone can deduce if you look at Marvel’s movie slate for Phase 4. Homecoming 2 is coming people and it is set right after the events of Avengers 4. The movie begins literally minutes after Avengers 4 ends.
Thanos will come back
Infinity War is not the last we see of Thanos. The Mad Titan has worked so hard to achieve what he did. So when Avengers 4 sees the good guys try to undo his actions, a pissed Mad Titan will be coming for their heads.
Most of the dead heroes will come back
A lot of the heroes who died in Infinity War like Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Spiderman already have their own solo movie projects in the pipeline. So they will be back in the game to kick ass before you know it.
A few deaths will be permanent
The ones that come to mind are that of Gamora, Loki, and Vision. Feige has himself remarked that “People should be careful what they wish for.” Fans wanted Marvel to make a dark, gritty movie. You cannot make a dark and gritty movie with people rising back from their graves every now and then.
Well, for now, enjoy Avengers Infinity War. The movie is going really strong at the box office as it has already become the highest grossing superhero film ever, fastest title to have crossed Billion dollar mark and will soon hopefully breach $2 Billion worldwide.
Directed by Russo Brothers, Produced by Kevin Feige & Co and the Script is written by an amazing duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The cast is simply stunning as it has brought some of the biggest stars including Josh Brolin (Thanos), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Peter Dinklage (Eitri), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Peter Dinklage (Eitri), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Karen Gillian (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Paul Bettany (Vision), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill).
The official movie synopsis reads:
“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment”.
