Deadpool undoubtedly is one of the best Marvel superheroes. Not just the character’s cool comic side and his witty yet sometimes crass sense of humor or his fourth wall breaking stunts along with some really cool moves, but even his picture representation have created a great fan base for the already loved character. He and the crazy go hand in hand, wherever he goes mayhem and insanity ensue.
And with Ryan Reynolds doing an impeccable job, he totally nailed the character in first Deadpool. The movie broke records and became the highest grossing R-rated movie and most profitable X-Men movie ever. It earned over $800 million at the worldwide box-office while the cost of production was just $60 million. This kind of massive success paved the way for a sequel.
People are eagerly waiting for the return of the Merc with a Mouth. With some interesting trailers, he already has us all intrigued, and waiting to figure how difficult will his job be in this film. Surprised? Well yes, even someone as strong as Deadpool has some weaknesses, here are 10 of them listed below:
Chicken and Clowns
Oh yes, the fast-talking merc has a lot of phobias. Some of which are, the fear of clowns as well as the fear of chickens. Just imagine, Deadpool ordering chicken at a meat shop all scared. The character has mentioned that second to Galactus, Clowns are Earth’s biggest threat.
Yep, another one here from Deadpool’s soft spot. Wade Wilson seriously loves kittens, well who can blame him, So much so, that when Ryan Reynolds was promoting Deadpool he posted a pic with a lot of kittens around him, and not just that, there was even a clip before the film’s release showcasing him saving a kitten (right at you Superman!!). And even in the comics, Wade Wilson fails to do anything when in front of kittens in “The Magic of Grackling”.
Well, this one is no shocker at all. Deadpool goes insane quite a few times, remember the time when he killed everyone in the Marvel universe? Well yeah, that is just one example. Wade Wilson is someone who has even killed the writers of the comics after coming out of the comics, and yes this all, of course, happened in the comics.
It all may seem bad-ass to see a sword-wielding man in red beating bad guys and sometimes good guys but the reality is there is an incredible amount of madness inside his head waiting to manifest itself in myriad ways. He is highly erratic, volatile and is incapable to complete a single train of thought. Enough jokes, Wade Wilson suffers from serious schizophrenia and depression.
Wolvie and Daddy Dead have a whole lot of shit in common. Undoubtedly both of them are super-strong, have regenerative capabilities, are extremely good martial artists and master seasons, still to mention that Wade Wilson is a better assassin than Wolvie, his own words, Wade Wilson still is very right to fear Wolverine, as he is a way better strategist than Deadpool, and Deadpool’s regenerative capabilities are also affected by Gamma rays, but Logan has no such trouble.
There is a difference between comics and real-life as there is no situation or circumstances you can’t come out from while in real life you stay in it for long. So you have the life-threatening ailment, no problem sir, the cure can be found in comics to treat you and get you up and running. Wade Wilson was physically and sexually abused when he was in foster care, he then left his girlfriend as he became an assassin after he was diagnoses with cancer.
Well, however absurd this may seem if a cure for cancer is found Wade Wilson won’t be our regenerating Deadpool anymore. Why is this so? This is because his very own mutation is his cancer because of which his cells keep on dying and regenerating, and if there were a cure found for Cancer, Wade Wilson won’t be a force to be reckoned with anymore.
This all began when Wade Wilson was a lab rat at Weapon X facility and there he met Death when he was slipping in and out of the consciousness. He developed feelings for her as he would see her cosmic embodiment so often which led to a relationship between the two. Thanos tried to seek her hand, slaughter billions of creatures, consumed entire planets, committed atrocities to please her. but she still refused. He then realized the closeness of Death with Deadpool and he cursed him for eternal life.
Oh yes, the one who ‘cures’ Deadpool with an eternal life is the man who is his weakness. Because as soon as the Mad Titan decides to lift his curse, Wade is gone. He has even killed him once in Deadpool VS Thanos, but then Deadpool survives as the two lovers have to find Lady Death.
Isn’t this cute? The Merc with the mouth, undoubtedly one of the most violent Marvel characters has a soft corner for kids. Wade even has a daughter named Ellie, his relationship with Negasonic Teenage Warhead on the big screen also tells about his affinity for kids.
Deadpool does’nt have empathy or compassion for anything, he is as cold as one can be, but he has gone out of his way to protect children. He is a true example of murderous psychotic superhero with a soft corner for little children. How cute or dangerous is that?
Well, we have earlier mentioned it too that Deadpool is a goner in front of Gamma radiation because it stops his regeneration capabilities. This has happened in the comics and Wade Wilson sure was in a tight spot when exposed to Gamma radiation.
You need to be a comic book Wolverine fan to know about this weakness of Deadpool. Well, this blade is of the old Japanese swordsman Marumusa, and it is such a powerful relic that it can even kill Wolverine, which also means that Deadpool too is very much vulnerable to this blade.
It was forged by a Japanese swordsman using Wolverine’s soul that gave weapon great power. It was used against Sabretooth by a mutant who cut off his right arm and in a matter of seconds, Sabretooth was decapitated as he could not re-attach his limb. Wolverine has always claimed that this is the most effective weapon to end Deadpool for good.
This is from the comics where Deadpools chopped off body parts, that he stores in a dumpster were taken to make a new Deadpool, an evil one, so yeah that is someone who Wade Wilson should fear, and that is not all, his other versions of the multiverse are also someone whom Deadpool should be quite Afraid of. They all are Deadpool after all!!
Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch and produced by Ryan Reynolds, Simon Kinberg, and Lauren Shuler Donner. The screenplay is written mainly by an amazing duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, although Reynolds has contributed as well. The Deadpool’s creator Rob Liefeld is very excited and had this to say:
“The Game is afoot! Oh man, this could not be more exciting for the fans as well as for all the great talent bringing Deadpool 2 to life! Deadpool! Cable! Domino! Colossus! Fans, brace yourself, you have no idea all the awesome that is coming your way! The best news is that June 1 is closer today than it was yesterday!!”
