Why Haven’t We Seen The Soul Stone And The Reality Stone In Infinity War?

Infinity War is coming closer and closer day by day. We have waited to see this movie come to life for years, and ever since it was announced, the fans have wanted to see Thanos and the Avengers assembled to take him on. It will be the biggest comic book ensemble movie that any studio has ever produced, according to reports, around 67 comic book characters of relevance will show up and at least half of them are superheroes.

For the first time, we will see the Mad Titan himself in action along with his notoriously dangerous Black Order to wreak havoc and destruction upon the Earth and the only thing standing between them and total dominance are ‘The Avengers’ and later on Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

Thanos will be traveling across the Universe along with his Black Order in order to retrieve the Infinity Stones scattered all across the Universe at different locations. He wants to be nothing short of being the ultimate ruler of the entire cosmos. If Thanos succeeds in collecting all the Infinity stones and assemble them in an all-powerful Infinity gauntlet that grants its wielder limitless god-like powers as the user gains control over fundamental forces of existence.

These Infinity Stones are six cosmic singularities namely Power stone, Mind stone, Space stone, Time Stone, Reality stone and Soul stone. In the trailer, we saw Thanos already has acquired two Infinity gems – Space and Power Gem. Time stone is with Doctor Strange, Reality stone is with ‘The Collector’ and Mind stone is in Vision’s forehead. Soul stone is yet to be discovered in the MCU. They are extremely dangerous in wrong hands, so much so that one can wipe out half the humanity at the snap of his fingers.

We know that the entire Seige of Wakanda is going to take place as everyone (the Secret Avengers lead by Nomad Cap) is going to Assemble to prevent Thanos and his army of ruthless alien invaders (also known as ‘The Outriders’) from getting the Mind Stone which as mentioned above, is with Vision. And the trailer showed us that Thanos has the Space Stone and the Power Stone.

The Power Stone will be acquired as Thanos is going to destroy Xandar right at the beginning of the movie. Then, Thanos will go for the Space Stone, and the scene we saw at the end of Thor: Ragnarok will be continued as Thanos & Hulk are going to get their asses handed to them, and Loki will give the Tesseract to Thanos. And then most likely Loki will die a horrible death. We also got a look at the Time Stone which Doctor Strange has.

But why are the other two stones not in the trailer. It is pretty understandable that Marvel has been hiding the reveal of the Soul Stone for 10 years, but why are they not showing anything related to the Reality Stone?

The last time we saw the Reality Stone was when Jane Foster discovered Aether in Thor: The Dark World and two of Thor’s loyal friends gave it to The Collector for safe-keeping as Asgard already had the Tesseract in its possession, so keeping two Infinity Stones together would not have been a great idea.

A leaked footage from Avengers: Infinity War which came out months ago showed the Guardians actually going to Knowhere in order to consult about the Reality Stone with The Collector. Now, this scene would have been in the aftermath of the Guardians meeting with Thor as that is probably how they will know about the Reality Stone’s location.

Also, the footage did not show Thor Groot and Rocket with the rest of the Guardians, so this would be right after the team splits into two. In this footage, we saw Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax and Mantis enter the Collector’s vault, where they find Collector getting his ass kicked by Thanos who is interrogating him about the Reality Stone.

So, this is probably where Thanos retrieves the Reality Stone from Taneleer Tivan. But then, why is it missing in the Gauntlet when Thanos is playing Tug of War with Cap towards the climax of the movie? Well, the answer to this is that it may have been removed from the Gauntlet through CGI and Visual effects and it may even be there when we saw Thanos make a fist wearing the Gauntlet in the first trailer.

Also, this may be the same reason Thanos still does not have the Time Stone in his Gauntlet because we clearly saw Strange being Tortured by Ebony Maw, so that may be the time when he takes the Stone from Strange and gives it to Thanos.

So, in the Wakandan battle, Thanos could be having 4 of these stones studded in his Gauntlet. Since, the battle of Wakanda would take place towards the end, we may not even see the Soul Stone be acquired by Thanos in Infinity War. There are many theories suggesting the location for the Soul Stone and it is very much possible that the Soul Stone will be the key to Avengers 4, and the entire quest of Avengers 4, where Thanos fixes the entire Universe may be based upon Soul Stone.

Soul Stone Reality Stone Infinity War

For now, theories suggest that Hawkeye may be on a mission to retrieve the Soul Stone, or it may be hidden in the planet Titan, or it may even be lost in Time, so Thanos would have to use the Time and the Space Stone to retrieve it from the location it currently is in. For what we know, Infinity War is going to be epic.

Avengers: Infinity War opens worldwide on April 27, 2018. It is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo aka Russo brothers and produced by Marvel head Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including God of Marvel comics Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Louis D’Esposito. The screenplay has been written by an amazing duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The cast is mind-blowing as Hollywood’s A-list actors will be seen under a single roof, a rare feat that only Marvel could have accomplished. They are Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Josh Brolin (Thanos).
