Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s latest feature Rampage is currently out in the theatres, and it is a great monster fun ride with the Rock! The movie is directed by Brad Peyton and had a budget of $120 Million. Seeing what Dwayne Johnson did with his last 2 outings, excluding Baywatch, Rampage 2018 is also on track to make significant money at the box office.
The Jumanji reboot made $950 Million and Fast 8 went past a Billion Dollars, so with Dwayne Johnson’s huge name and brand image, Rampage will go big as well. This is another movie inspired by a video game, but it is not like that and has only some elements of it.
In the movie, Johnson plays the role of a primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps people at a distance but shares an unshakable bond with George, an incredibly rare albino silverback gorilla who is extraordinarily intelligent, and has been in his care since he rescued the young orphan from evil poachers. But things go crazy as a rogue genetic experiment gone wrong mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size.
Things go even worse as we find out that there are more animals who are genetically altered and mutated into these giant savage beasts. Three of these beats in total, a Silverback Gorilla, a giant Fox and a gigantic crocodile go on a rampage of destruction wreaking havoc in North America, while Davis Okoye teams with discredited geneticist Kate Caldwell played by Naomie Harris to secure an antidote in order save North America from these giant monsters, and bring his old friend back.
Earlier, Rampage was going to release a week later, and come out on April 20, but seeing Avengers: Infinity War pull back its release a week coming out on April 27, WB decided to release Rampage a week earlier as well, in order to provide the movie a 2 week cushion at the Box Office against the mighty competitor, Avengers: Infinity War. Hence, the movie came out on April 13, and is currently playing in theatres.
