Infinity War: Here’s How The [Spoiler] Infinity Stone Could Be Used To Reset The MCU

Avengers Infinity War is considered to be the most ambitious crossover event in all of comic book movie history the movie is already showcasing more than 35 superheroes and perhaps the largest cast to ever go to war in a single series. It is the culmination of the decade-long hard work and 18 movies of MCU that have come out since 2008’s Iron Man. The super climax to almost a decade of movie making.

The Infinity War has been described as a heist movie by the Russos as it will feature Mad Titan along with his Black Order and alien army (Outriders) literally stealing one Infinity stone after another as they move from place to place. Thanos wants to assemble the Infinity gauntlet with all the cosmic singularities embedded in it that woill grant its wielder limitless god like powers which will literally make him invincible. He can control the elements that fundamentally makes all existence possible. He can finally fulfill his lifelong ambition of wiping out half the universe at the snap of his fingers while ruling over the rest.

Here is what Russos said about Thanos and how Avengers & audience must be ready to pay a heavy price:

“This is it. Thanos is an unstoppable villain he’s virtually invincible, he’s highly intelligent – genius level intelligent – he’s like the Genghis Khan of the universe, and to stop him it’s going to cost them a lot. They’re going to have to see if they’re willing to pay that price, and that’s what these movies are really about. What we meant by that is to be prepared. What we want is for the audience to be prepared, as there’s a lot of surprises – there’s going to be a lot of humor and a lot of heartbreak.”

As the Mad Titan ‘Thanos’ says – Dread it, Run from it, Destiny still arrives. The End is Near. But while we look forward to the end, it is the journey that we must appreciate.

The journey that the cast and the audience and the filmmakers have made together. Thanks, the journey that is the history and the success story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since the first Avengers movie people have known that this franchise was destined for something bigger and with the release of Avengers Infinity war we’re finally getting a taste of how huge thing world of MCU actually is.

Although it stands to reason that the Disney studio will like to keep on the actors who have become so memorable to the audiences as the characters they have played for ten years, the fans still know that not all wishes are granted. With contracts ending and subsequent character arcs coming to a close in Avengers 4 fans anticipate that the infinity gems will be used to reset and reshape the entirety of the MCU.

It may also be pertinent to note that the respective character arcs of all our main protagonist and supporting characters such as Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Nick Fury, Iron Man and Black Panther stand at the end of their development cycles.

We’ve already seen Tony Stark destroy his suits, the god of thunder fall in and out of love and witness the destruction of his home-world, not to mention the hostile takeover of the throne by his evil brother and the death of the all father, we’ve also borne witness to a hulk vs abomination fight and an outer space adventure for the jade giant.

There has also been a completely fleshed out Captain America story arc that has reshaped the status quo of the MCU not once but twice. First with the fall of SHIELD and then with civil war the advent and introduction of both black panther and Wakanda to the world stage. As time progresses the stories of these characters must only become more complex and darker and the stakes can only rise, that is the rule of storytelling. If you can’t make the premise more interesting at least make the sequel more complicated with a higher budget.

So how do we deal with such a problem? Firstly, it’s not something new or unique to the MCU, the redundancy of plot is something that every major form of storytelling suffers from, and comic readers have been dealing with it for ages. Not only do the readers continuously face problems such as over-complicated plot due to years of character development (something that would discourage new readers from entering the fan base) it also leads to discontent from the current readers when the premise becomes too dark and too tiring to keep up with.

We work in the entertainment industry, do we not? And hence the prevailing theory in the fandom is that the writers will employ the same trick that they have been using in the comics for ages. The writers could use the multiverse theory and the all-powerful nature of the cosmic infinity gauntlet and the infinity stones to reboot the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But what stone will be used? The prevailing theory in the fandom is that when Thanos finally stands atop the bodies of defeated Avengers and their allies and dons the completed infinity gauntlet vision (as the consciousness of the mind stone) will overpower Thanos but only for a second.

In this instant one of the Avengers (presumably Captain America as Chris Evans contracted has not been renewed for phase 4) will don the Infinity Gauntlet and its power will destroy the welding avengers, but before it does, the said Avenger will use the power of the Reality stone in conjunction with the time stone to alter past events and bring back all the loss of life that occurs in Avengers Infinity war and Avengers 4.
