Avengers Infinity War is around the corner. The countdown has begun as we will see the greatest Marvel comic-book event in less than 20 days. It will be the biggest comic-book ensemble movie in the history of cinema. Never before has any studio attempted to make a comic book movie of this size and scope. Hats off to Marvel!
Infinity War is going to feature around 67 major comic book characters, of which half of them are superheroes. It will be the culmination of 18 Marvel movies that have come in the last decade spanning three phases. The major storylines and character arc will find closure in the upcoming Infinity War movies.
The marketing for the movie is already in high gear. Every day new images, teasers, TV spots are coming out, sending levels of fan excitement to the skies. It’s really getting difficult now to pass each day as we all are ready to experience the grandest comic book extravaganza in the history of comic book genre.
The New One Minute TV Spot Promo of Avengers Infinity War released by Marvel Studios has taken the internet by storm. While there is a busload of scenes not seen before in the previous teasers, this one is special on account of multiple reasons.
The new Promo video showed us a lot of heart touching and hilarious scenes. Bucky and Cap meeting for the first time since Civil War happened, Okoye asking for a Starbucks in Wakanda and a lot more scenes that caught the fans’ attention. As intriguing as these scenes might be, they do present a lot of confusion.
What was the meaning of those scenes? The New Marvel TV Spot raises a lot of confusing questions than it gives satisfying answers. What was the context? Let’s dive in and Find out.
Who is Black Widow fighting and why?
In this scene, Black Widow is seen being badass. She is seen battling someone which everyone assumes to be Proxima Midnight. Proxima and Widow will be fighting in what looks like an abandoned warehouse of sorts. But the thing is, the room doesn’t look Wakandan in nature. Why is she in the warehouse?
One fan theory has stated that Captain America and his team realize the threat posed by Thanos much before Team Iron Man does. So they are already in place, trying to stop Thanos’ forces before Team Stark could put on their shoes. Captain America is also seen emerging from the shadows while catching a spear, which adds credence to this theory.
Who, or to be more precise, what is Iron Man fighting?
Iron Man can be expected to be involved in his own fair share of fights scenes in the movie considering his enormous fan base and Marvel’s fondness of RDJ. In the TV Spot, Iron Man is seen evading what looks like tentacles. What are those tentacles??
Do they belong to Thanos’ Q-Ship featured last in Thor: Ragnarok? Or does it belong to some tentacle creature that is a part of Thanos’ massive alien army? Considering that Thanos’ Chitauri forces possessed Gigantic Leviathans to boot, a large tentacle war creature doesn’t sound that farfetched.
Shuri has new Gauntlets. But will they be enough to defeat Thanos?
Shuri is a genius of the highest order. Some would say her genius transcends that of Tony Stark’s and Bruce Banner’s combined. She has singlehandedly transformed her nation into a super advanced technological hub and heads Wakanda’s technological division even though she is not even 20.
She developed the Black Panther suit, the Vibranium rail, and the Kimoya Beads. Shuri is not going to sit back and let her genius mind not put to good use while the rest of the Earth burns. In the TV Spot, Shuri is seen using her Panther Gauntlets on a clearly unwelcome guest. And by the look on her face, that ‘guest’ is someone surely evil and sinister.
How many Infinity Stones does Thanos have?
In the previous clips, Thanos only possessed the Space Stone and the Power Stone. The logical explanation behind this was that Thanos’ first order of business will be to attack Xandar and retrieve Power stone which is capable enough to annihilate entire worlds in seconds. Then he moved on to fetch Space stone stolen by Loki from Asgard, he is in a ship with Thor and other Asgardians on its way to Earth. The last scene of Thor: Ragnarok was their journey being interrupted by Thanos and Black Order.
But in the TV Spot Trailer, it was shown that it is no longer the case. The Twitter version of the video clip of the aforementioned TV Spot Promo has something really interesting to offer.
At just about 0:24 of the trailer, Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet is in full view along with the Stones studded in it. There is the Power Stone and the Space Stone but the count doesn’t end there. There are, what appears o be, two more stones already in place on the Gauntlet. The Reality Stone or the Aether from Thor 2 is also there. Then there is a fourth stone that some claim to be the Time Stone or the ever elusive Soul Stone.
Maybe it is just a trick of light which would mean it is misdirection (something Marvel is infamous for). But if the clip is indeed true, then Thanos has clearly been way ahead of others, having acquired the other stone before the other heroes could even bat an eye.
Avengers Infinity War will clearly offer the answers we so desperately seek now. The movie releases on April 27th, 2018. It is directed by Russo brothers who previously directed Captain America: First Avenger and Captain America: Civil War. It is produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including God of Marvel comics Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo etc. The screenplay has been written by a talented duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
