Every Time Thanos Retrieves An Infinity Stone Someone Will Die!

Infinity War is just around the corner and coming closer day by day. It will be the biggest superhero ensemble movie we have ever seen. It would feature around 67 comic book characters and half of those are superheroes. We have waited to see this movie come to life for years, and ever since it was announced, the fans have wanted to see Thanos and the Avengers assembled to take him on.

For the first time, we will see the Mad Titan himself along with his notoriously dangerous Black Order wreak havoc and destruction upon the Earth and the only thing standing between them and total dominance are ‘The Avengers’ along with the Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

This movie has been described as a heist film by the Russos as Thanos and the Black Order will be traveling across the galaxy in order to retrieve the Infinity Stones hidden in different places. Here’s what they said:

“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.

Doing that, Thanos will lay a path of death and destruction, as we know that people are going to die including our favorite superheroes or side characters. The current whereabouts of these 6 cosmic singularities are scattered all across the Universe. His objective is to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet with all the Infinity gems embedded in it which will allow him to open interstellar portals, mess with timelines, reshape the worlds etc. In the official trailer, Thanos already had in his possession two of the six Infinity stones namely Space stone and Power stone.

The Tesseract containing the Space Stone is aboard on Thor’s Ship since Loki wiped it off Odin’s Vault before Asgard was destroyed. The Collector has the Aether containing the Reality Stone stashed somewhere. The Power Stone was kept in Nova Corps’ safekeeping at Xander. Vision has the Mind Stone, and Doctor Strange has the Time Stone which resides in the Eye of Agamotto. The location of the Soul Stone is being kept a mystery for the movie to solve.

Collecting these stones will not be easy for Thanos, but we all know that he is going to do it probably by the end of the movie. Kevin Feige has already mentioned that there are going to be permanent deaths in the movie, so we should prepare ourselves for that. Since Thanos is going to collect all the Infinity Stones for sure at some point of time, we can imagine how many people he may have killed by that time.

The guys at ‘Screenrant’ got to talk with the writers of the movie, Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely, and here are the questions that they asked related to this topic:

“Can you guys talk about the collection of the Stones? How the Stones help you shape your story? With each of these passing gems, we were all watching like, “Well this is the one where the Stones sort of come together.” Making it a little bit easier for the next person, It’s not like they’re spread–“

To this, McFeely answered:

“They’re still spread out. Remember, one of our jobs, we’re big structure guys. So if you go back and look at Winter Soldier and Civil War particularly, they are, whether you like the movies are not, they’re pretty well structured. Big choices have been made. We had to do the same thing here and yet we had 6 MacGuffins – it can be relentless if you do this right.

Which means, every time you collect [an Infinity Stone] – I don’t mean to get into the screenwriting weeds – but every time you collect one, it can’t just be a check mark. It has to do something characterful. It’s got to move the plot forward but it also has to have stakes and cost for literal characters at the time, so that it’s not just a shopping spree. And I think we’ve done that and boy, we’re going to wrench some emotion out of each and every one of those moments that we can.”

So this probably means that someone really important is going to perish every time Thanos acquires an Infinity Stone. During the retrieval of the Space Stone, rumor has it that Loki may die, saving Thor and Hulk from Thanos. The entire planet of Xandar may be turned to ash when Thanos take the Power Stone. The entire siege of Wakanda will happen to prevent Vision and the Mind Stone, so more than one person may die in that. The Guardians see Thanos talking to the Collector for the Reality Stone, so the Collector may meet his demise before we see him unite with his brother, The Grandmaster. So by this pattern, Doctor Strange is in serious trouble, and so is the bearer of the Soul Stone.

Hopefully, we see many of these heroes be brought back in Avengers 4 if not all of them. Avengers: Infinity War will open on April 27 and Avengers 4 will come out on May 3, 2019. The movie is directed by Russo brothers who are specialists in creating big budget comic book movies with many characters, the best example is Captain America: Civil War. It is produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including God of Marvel comics Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo etc. The screenplay has been written by a talented duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The cast is incredibly awesome as industry’s top actors are part of it including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Starlord), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Chris Evans (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Evangeline Lily (Wasp), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Dave Bautista (Drax), Pom Klemtieff (Mantis).

The official synopsis for Avengers Infinity War is as follows:

“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. “As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.

Avengers: Infinity War
