Wands are the most important and magical objects in the Potter series and each wand is unique and chooses its own master. Every wizard has a wand that understands them and helps them bring out the magic in them. These are some of the most powerful wands in the Harry Potter series and belong to wizards and witches as powerful as these wands:
10. Ron Weasley’s wand:
You might remember that Ron’s wand broke in the second year and he had a broken wand throughout the year that created many disasters. The wand core of Ron’s first and second wand was Unicorn tail hair and it was quite powerful. Ron may not have been the best at dueling initially but he improved a lot later.
9. Cedric Diggory’s wand:
The original Hogwarts champion for the Triwizard Tournament Cedric Diggory was extremely skilled at combat and dueling. His wand helped him get through the tasks of the deadly tournament even though unfortunately Cedric died at the end of it. His wand had a Unicorn hair core and he could perform many difficult charms and spells with it.

The core of Hermione’s wand is dragon heartstring and the wood is vine wood which is a great combination and has a length of 10 ¾ inches. Hermione is called the brightest witch of her age and she is known to be creative in combat and excels at protection and concealment charms. Hermione’s wand when paired with her intellect and skill becomes extremely powerful.
7. Harry Potter’s wand:
Harry later become the owner of the Elder wand but his original wand was very powerful too. The wand that chose Harry when he was 11 was made of Holly and had the extremely powerful core of phoenix feather. Harry has performed outstanding magic with this wand and defeated many wizards as well as dementors with its help.
6. Bellatrix Lestrange’s wand:
She is one of the most evil characters in the series and has killed two of our most loved characters. Bellatrix’s wand was extremely powerful and helped her torture and kill many people. She performed a lot of powerful spells with her wand and caused a lot of destruction with it too. She was skilled at dark magic and spells and excelled at non-verbal magic.
5. Severus Snape’s wand:
Severus Snape might not have been the best teacher at Hogwarts because of his biased teaching and treatment of students but he was extremely skilled at dark arts, potion making and occlumency. Snape’s skills helped him fool Voldemort for years and that is not an easy thing. His original wand’s specifications were not mentioned in the books but by his excellent command at magic we can deduce that it must have been a powerful one.
4. Minerva McGonagall’s wand:
Professor McGonagall as we all know excels at transfiguration which means that she can transform inanimate objects into living things and vice versa and can also make objects come to life. Her wand is extremely powerful and the wand core is dragon heartstring. Professor McGonagall is also a skillful duelist and is good at combat.
3. Gellert Grindelwald’s wand:
Grindelwald is famous for his ambition of world domination much before Voldemort became active and for also getting defeated by none other than his former friend Albus Dumbledore. Even before he became the master of the Elder wand, Grindelwald was an extremely skilled duelist and his skills were only matched by Dumbledore. Grindelwald had knowledge of the dark arts, transfiguration and many other fields of magic. This leads us to believe that he also had a powerful wand by his side through his many magical endeavours.
2. Voldemort’s wand:
As you may know that Voldemort and Harry’s wands shared the same core and were linked to each other which meant they couldn’t kill each other if none of them changed their wands. Despite this complication Voldemort’s wand which was made of Yew and had a phoenix feather core was extremely powerful and helped him murder and torture a lot of people. The best example of its power is his epic duel with Dumbledore at the end of OOTP.
1. The Elder Wand:
Obviously the most powerful wand in the wizarding world was the Elder wand which according to the legend of the three brothers was given to Antioch Peverell by death himself. The wand was carved from the wood of an Elder tree and could make any wizard invincible. The wand was owned by many wizards and its last owner was Harry himself and he chose to put the wand back to Dumbledore’s grave in the end so that with Harry’s natural death the wand would lose all its power.
