The Final Infinity War Trailer Shows How [Spoiler] Dies

As night dawned and the clock struck 7:00 on 16th March 2018; a mild Saturday evening was turned into a groundbreaking event as Marvel released the second trailer for Infinity war. The fandom all over the world went in a frenzy trying to determine the plot of Infinity war before it’s release.

The Russo brothers were asked about the plot of the movie and they described ‘Avengers Infinity War’ as the heist movie where Thanos will steal six Infinity stones one by one, whatever it takes to become the most powerful cosmic creature in the whole universe. Here is what they said:

“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.

Regardless of how highly the movie has been anticipated for more than a decade, the trailer gave the fandom everything that it ever wanted. A great challenge for earth’s mightiest heroes. Something that makes them rue the day that chose to fight for justice and against a force such as the mad Titan Thanos.

As the fans dissected the trailer and riled in the glory of the newly released poster with Iron Man at the center, one thing became painfully clear. The fact that Thanos is coming with all his might and no one hero, alone, would be able to stand against his might. This fact is also witnessed by the fans when we watch the trailer and see vision being tortured for the mind stone, Thor screaming in the clutches of the mad Titan, Loki offering up the tesseract and Captain America struggling to make a stand.

One scene, however, stands above the rest and sucks out like a sore thumb in front of fans. It’s the amalgamation of three separate clips from the two trailers.

The first clip is it Loki offering up the tesseract and the space stone held within.

The second clip is Loki being held hostage by the Black Order.

And the third clip is of Thanos shattering the tesseract in the palm of his hand to extract the space stone.

All the three clips point to two possibilities. Either Loki betrays his brethren and his people ( or that he’s been working for Thanos since the events of Thor), or the second possibility is that Loki is forced to hand over the tesseract and space stone with his people on gunpoint.

The first theory, explained in detail, talks about a potential plot twist where Loki has always been a pawn of Thanos. Considering that he was entrusted with the mind gem to take over the earth and provided an army by Thanos, it doesn’t seem all that unlikely. The theory mentions how Loki has always been secretly working for Thanos and all his time spent aiding or fighting Thor has been for the sole purpose of getting his hands on the Tesseract and the space stone that it encompasses within.

This theory is further bolstered by the fact that Loki was given the mind stone by Thanos. It is highly likely that the mad titan used the mind stone before handing it over to Loki, to make sure that the God of Mischief remains his loyal subordinate up until the resolution of the conflict with earth.

The second theory is the part where things get interesting. Fans predict that Loki has not only resolved to be on the side of good (the side of the Avengers) but that his character development has come full circle. This theory begins right after the events of Thor: Ragnarok ‘s after credit scene. In this scenario, the after credit scene of Thor: Ragnarok marks the start of Thanos’ attack on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s superheroes for the extraction of Infinity stones.

The idea goes that after Thor and Loki defeated Hela by causing Ragnarok, they were stopped in their tracks by Thanos’ mothership. This is where the Black Order and Thanks board the Asgardian refugee ship and dismantle the Asgardian forces, including Thor, Loki, and Heimdall. But the people have no idea what Thanos is doing there.

There’s only one man in the group, namely Loki the God of mischief, who knows exactly what’s about to ensure. After fighting a losing battle to Thanks and the Black order the Asgardians including Look and Thor are at the mercy of the mad titan. This is when the mad titan offers a trade to Loki, the space stone tesseract for Thor’s life and safe passage for the Asgardians refugees.

The fans theorize that Loki takes up Thanks on his offer and provides him with the tesseract that he raided from the Asgardian vault at the end of Thor Ragnarok. Once Thanos adds the gem to his Infinity gauntlet he then proceeds to kill Look in front of his people and brother to make a point. The point is that you don’t fail a task given to you by the mad titan.

infinity war

The second theory is much more interesting and is arguably the one which will get to see in Infinity war. But this also means as impactful as the scene will be, it will look mark the departure of Tom Hiddleston from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What do you think?
