This Is Who The Kid Is From The Deadpool 2 Trailer

Deadpool is one of the deadliest and bad ass assassins in the entire comic book universe. But alongside he is also the funniest and insane. Wherever Deadpool goes, the craziness follows him. He trolls his enemies and friends alike and his jokes always land so much so that they are sometimes offensive but he doesn’t care.

After the horrible portrayal of Deadpool in X-Men: Origins by Ryan Reynolds, he collaborated with Tim Miller and studios (20th Century Fox, Marvel) to bring a solo Deadpool movie. The movie became a phenomenon and scripted history at the box-office. With just $60 million budget, it earned over $800 million at the box office worldwide. It was the highest earning R rated movie and most profitable X-Men movie ever.

This paved the way for Deadpool 2 but due to creative disagreements Tim Miller left the project and David Leitch was roped into helm it. He is inspired by the debut movie in the franchise and has now broken all rules for the sequel. The movie has, even more, sillier and edgier tone which is reflected in the latest trailer.

It was an unexpected treat for Marvel fans when Fox studios decided to drop the second trailer for the upcoming Deadpool 2. The studio seems to be interested in leaving no stone unturned in creating hype for the upcoming movie. Fans have religiously waited for the iconic Deadpool to get a sequel. The fans of the series wish to laugh once more at Ryan Reynolds impeccable impression of the Merc with a mouth. Wade Wilson was an unsuspecting assassin who got involved in some very shady human experiment after he was diagnosed with an inoperable ailment.

At death’s doorstep Wade took the only option he had, he voluntarily enrolled himself in human experiments. This lab was were Ajax *cough* FRANCIS *cough* tortured Wade for months on end forcing his body into a state of mutation. When Wade’s Body finally did mutate, his healing powers merged with cancer in his body making him Deadpool.

Deadpool’s enhanced healing factor enables him to survive all him of fatal injuries. Deadpool has survived being constantly gutted by Wolverine, being put into a Vat of acid by Deathstroke just to name a few. This cycle of undeath or rather curse of life has left the character with a cynical attitude towards life. He perceives all and sees all, most importantly Deadpool is aware of the fact that he is a comic character. We saw the fourth Wall breaks in the first trailer, but it seems that the second trailer was rolled out to showcase the story.

In the first trailer, we could not see the chemistry between Deadpool and Cable, but in the latest one David Leitch has been proven right as the Cable’s fans are delighted to see the character almost similar to comics. He said that he has taken creative liberties in adopting this amazing character which comic book audience is gonna love it when the movie comes out. Here is what he said:

“Cable has a really interesting and complex backstory. Obviously, no film could ever encapsulate the entire backstory, so I think we’ll find the first introduction is about who this character is. When you look at the Cable and Deadpool comic book series, you see how there is banter between them. Whether they are on opposite sides or not, they are definitely formidable to each other. One is frustrating to the other. The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin is amazing. It’s not unlike what you see in the Cable and Deadpool series”.

It appears that the story of Deadpool 2 revolves around the recurring character of Deadpool comics, the time-traveling mutant Cable. It seems that during the events of Deadpool 2, Cable arrives in our time to eliminate a mutant identified in the trailer only as “the kid”. The fans have been brimming with mystery ever since the trailer was dropped yesterday. The question on everyone’s mind?

WHO IS THIS KID AND WHY IS HE SO IMPORTANT TO CABLE ?`

Well, don’t worry fellow nerds. Grab your popcorn and your reading glasses, because we at quirkybyte know the answer and you can find it out below.

The first step of any Theory is to gather up all our evidence. What do we know about this Kid? What information do we get from the trailer itself? And finally what facts can we speculate on?

First of all, it seems that the kid has some kind of fire-based mutant powers and has a kind of reckless attitude. There are only two characters in the Marvel universe who fit the description of a reckless, fire-power based mutant. The first character is Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch’s sidekick from the golden age. The teenager was named Toro and he possessed abilities similar to that of The Human Torch. The only reason Toro is considered a viable choice is that both he and the “kid” from the trailer use their primary shooting points for their powers and the damage from the trailer seems consistent with Toro’s combat Modus operandi.

The second guess is a mutant from Japan named Sunfire aka Shiro. Sunfire was a child of Japan’s ambassador to the United States. A young Shiro lost his mother to the residual radiation in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The young mutant also suffered at the hands of the radiation, apparently to the point that he could absorb the sun’s energy and use it as plasma and magma projectiles. He could also utilize this power for elongated flights and mobility. Sunfire is also very reckless by nature, a fact that is only bolstered by the character’s hatred for America. Sunfire is also a very reckless superhero, Charles Xavier has often commented on how the mutant fights without regard for any loss of life to self or fellow team members.

Although both of these characters are viable predictions, none of them have quite the Ooomph that is needed for a Deadpool movie. It seems prudent to assume that the kid could be either of these mutants but the question remains, why would cable come after a mutant who has mostly used his powers for good.

deadpool 2 kid

A prevailing theory on the internet seems to be that the Kid is actually the younger KID apocalypse from the Marvel comic universe. In the comics when Apocalypse was killed of the Marvel heroes, he has resurrected as a younger version of himself shortly after. This kid was named Evans and he possessed all of the terrifying powers of the apocalypse (the first mutant) but he did not possess his villainous attitude for the longest interval.

Kid apocalypse was first introduced in UNCANNY X-Men when the X-men grouped together to fight four immensely strong mutants and when they reached the boss they realized that it was a young reincarnation of Apocalypse pulling the strings. The four mutants were just his four horsemen coming for the X-men. This theory seems most viable and legit for the simple reason that it gives Cable a reasonable motive to come after the Kid.

Deadpool 2 will be released worldwide on May 18, 2019 and the ensemble cast of the movie is beyond amazing as it includes some of the incredibly talented stars like Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa/Copy Cat, Josh Brolin as Nathan Summers / Cable, Zazie Beetz as Neena Thurman / Domino, T. J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus and Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy.

The latest synopsis released by Fox can be read below:
