Infinity War: The Red Skull Is Alive And Might Return In The Movie!!!

It is a Marvel tradition to release a prelude to a big comic book event through a comic or animated movie, so that fans know about the timeline, where all the key characters are, how the things are expected to go down in the future. According to reports, we will see 35 superheroes and 67 Marvel comics characters in the Infinity War movies. Sometimes, it becomes difficult to make sense of so much happening, so many plot-lines unresolved. Everything that has happened till now in the MCU will be brought to a close in the Infinity War. It will mark the culmination of Phase 1, 2 and 3 and everything led to this historic event which will change everything.

So continuing the tradition, Marvel studios has released a prequel comic before one of its greatest comic book events ‘Infinity War’ divided into two parts – Avengers Infinity War and Untitled Avengers movie.

The Avengers: Infinity War prequel comic has given us a massive twist in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe story. The Red Skull has been hinted to be still alive within the MCU. Provided the fact that Marvel has always been criticized for baby-proofing their villains and churning them out as quickly as you could say ‘shoo’, that is saying something. The MCU’s greatest flaw is its inability to portray its villain’s the right way. Perhaps with the return of Red Skull, we could finally see Marvel making good on its promise of trying to correct the inherent flaws that lie within its core movie making process. The Red Skull, one of Marvel Comics’ greatest villains, might indeed return back to the MCU in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

Captain America’s Mortal Enemy and Nazi Super Spy/ Espionage expert, the Red Skull is Captain America’s foremost adversary both in the comic books and in the movie universe. His crazy (and frankly, stereotypical) German accent aside, the Red Skull is an accomplished villain that has always been a thorn on Steve Rogers and Shield’s side. Using his intricate knowledge of Espionage and psychological warfare, the Red Skull has made the organization of Hydra as fearsome as it could be. Even to this day, Red Skull and his work have had a long lasting effect on international affairs. The guy is just pure evil given a slightly cartoonish physical form (what can I say the guy looks like you could charge your phone through his nostrils!!).

One of the most classic examples of Marvel creating a downsized version of its iconic villains is the Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger. The Nazi Red Skull, played by Hugo Weaving, is the perfect polar opposite in terms of ideology and principles to the Allies’ Super Soldier, Captain America. That is actually a facet of the movie marvel fans wanted to be explored further. Alas! Red Skull died an untimely and damn useless death when he tried to hold the Tesseract (Space Stone) in The First Avenger and was apparently whisked away into nothingness by the Infinity Stone.

But now, we have news that the Red Skull might indeed by still breathing. The Infinity War prelude comics give u a vague idea as to his whereabouts. The comics hint at the fact that when Red Skull was shown to be ‘killed’ by the stone, he was actually transferred to another dimension or planet on the other end of the universe.

How did he ‘die’?

The Red Skull met a grizzly death in the movie when he tried touching the Space Gem with his bare ends. His insides and outside were literally shown being atomized as Captain America looked in awe at the power of the Tesseract. The special-effects of the movie show it as if Red Skull apparently died due to an energy overload from the Space Stone.

The prelude comics of Infinity War show this flashback scene in a different light. The scene from The First Avenger is set exactly as it is in the movie with a slight but major change. The Space Stone, when held by the Red Skull, does not atomize him. Instead of disintegration, the picture shows The Red Skull being clearly transported to somewhere else into outer space. The Space Stone did not kill the Red Skull, it just did an involuntary and long distance ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ to him.

So where is he now?

The Red Skull considered the myths about Asgard to be based on facts. He believed Asgardians were actually aliens with technology so advanced they literally looked like they were doing magic. The Space Stone, as said by the Red Skull in The First Avengers, was the prime Jewel in Odin’s treasury. There is nowhere else to go for the Red Skull but Asgard or maybe to one of the adjacent realms.

If the theory is indeed true, the Red Skull is alive and looking for a way to come back to Earth.  He would have spent years on another world, amassing knowledge and maybe abilities as of yet unheard off. Thanos coming to Earth, with the space stone in possession, will give Red Skull the window he needs to get back to his home planet and wreak havoc on Earth again. Maybe Infinity War will even feature a fight between the Nazi Super Soldier and the Allied Superhero. It all boils down to Avengers: Infinity War.

The movie will now be released worldwide on April 27, 2018. It is directed by Russo brothers – Joe and Anthony Russo and produced by Marvel head Kevin Feige. Stan Lee (God of Marvel comics) , Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo among others are the executive producers. The screenplay has been written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The Mad Titan and his Black Order will come for the precious Infinity gems in order to assemble an all-powerful Infinity gauntlet which grants the user limitless, godlike powers and abilities which literally allows him to rewrite realities and reshape whole worlds. Each Infinity stone individually is quite powerful but collectively they will make Thanos the ultimate ruler of entire cosmos, should he managed to get his hands on all of them.

Can Earth’s mightiest Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy be able to stop the carnage unleashed by the Mad Titan and Black Order? Can they come together and save mankind? Will Thanos just destroy everything with his insane powers? What is the endgame of Thanos? Which Avenger will die fighting the Mad Titan? Which one will survive the wrath and fury of Thanos during Infinity War? Can’t wait to find answers to all these questions. Keep reading QuirkyByte to find out more.
