The Entertainment Weekly Coverage just kick-started the digital marketing for Avengers: Infinity War as it revealed 15 new cover photos including 22 Superheroes and 1 Mad Titan. Along with that, a lot of new photos have been revealed in this coverage and plenty of new details have come into the spotlight. Here is a list of the things revealed through this coverage.
Thor, Rocket, and Groot stick together
As we saw in the two teasers of Infinity War, Thor has met with the Guardians, and now he is going to stick with them for quite a while. We know that Star-Lord, Mantis, Gamora and Drax are going to meet with Iron Man and Spider-Man, so, Thor is going to stick with Rocket and Groot possibly for forging a new weapon. Even the new Cover showed the trio together.
Thor’s new weapon confirmed
This old art revealed that Thor will probably have a new weapon in the movie which is speculated to be Jarnbjorn. Since Mjolnir was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok by Hela, Thor is assumed to take the Jarnbjorn now, which is part Axe and part Hammer. This will probably happen when Thor goes on a tour with Rocket and Groot.
The Guardians head to Wakanda
The new cover shows Star-Lord along with Okoye, so the two will probably be united, and the only place that could happen most likely is Wakanda. Also, Rocket has been revealed to have a lot of fun fighting the alien Outriders and meeting Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Rocket wants Bucky’s arm
Well, this moment was pretty much expected to happen since we know how Rocket is with prosthetic body parts. This scene has now been confirmed as for when Rocket and Bucky will fight together, he will attempt to buy Bucky’s gun, and when he denies, this is what Rocket is gonna ask him:
“Okay, how much for the arm? The arm?”
The mysterious orange planet revealed
It was suspected that this orange planet is actually a version of ‘Battleworld’ from the comics, or even a deserted Xandar since Thanos is going to go for the Power stone over there. But as it turns out, this is Thanos’ home planet called ‘Titan’.
Thanos’ backstory revealed
Till now, the least we know about is Thanos as we have seen only a few little clips of him, and nothing more. Now, Kevin Feige himself has shown some light on his backstory:
“He’s from a planet called Titan that’s no longer inhabited because of things that he thought he could help prevent, and he was not allowed to do that. What he feared most happened, and the planet and everybody on it basically went extinct. He vowed not to let that happen again. He thinks he sees the universe going down the tubes. He thinks he sees life expanding outward unchecked. That will bring ruin, he believes, to the universe and to that life.”
Vision is a living MacGuffin
It has been revealed that the siege in Wakanda takes place not because the Avengers are hiding the soul stone there, but they will be protecting Vision and the mind stone. Here’s what Anthony Russo said:
“Cap makes the decision to bring [Vision] here to Wakanda. Earth is making its last stand to keep the stone from Thanos. It’s the best place to make your last stand. Vision is a living MacGuffin. Obviously, that raises the stakes because Vision’s life is in danger, and his life is in conflict with Thanos’ goals, so something’s got to give.”
Proxima Midnight Goes on the Hunt
So far, the only little glimpse we have seen of Proxima Midnight is her throwing a spear at Captain America. We know that she will go looking for the Infinity Stones along with other Black Order members, but she is going to meet up with her 2 sisters Nebula and Gamora as well, while she goes on the hunt.
Tony’s view to the world has completely changed
Since Tony and Cap separated after the Civil War, he has been preparing to save the world from upcoming threats, but since that did not go so well in Age of Ultron, his goals will be smaller this time. Here’s what Robert Downey Jr. said about Tony’s changed view to the world:
“I don’t think Tony is idle, I think he is wondering … Look, when he tried to make a suit of armor around the world [in Avengers: Age of Ultron], that didn’t pan out so well. Now I think his goals are smaller.”
Pepper is the heart of Tony’s story
Pepper and Tony are now engaged and they will probably be getting married soon if Tony survives Infinity War. Pepper has always been a big part of Tony’s life and RDJ reveals that even with everything that will happen in Infinity War, Tony and Pepper will have their Spotlight:
“Pepper remains the heart of the [Iron Man] story. I think we wanted to get back to that reality. Not just for them, but let’s really see how that can add to the something-worth-fighting-for of it all.”
Tony’s new Armor is Space ready!
We know that Tony’s Bleeding Edge armor is going to have some never seen before abilities as it will be stored entirely in his arc reactor, and it will be having some insane weaponry. But what is the real big news is that he will be having supersonic wing like Jet Packs that will allow him to fly at high speeds in space.
“Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark will fire up the Bleeding Edge armor, which emerges across his body from a new arc reactor and includes “wings” on the back and arms that serve as rocket boosters into deep space.”
The smaller teams will for in the beginning
We know that this movie will be having little team-ups that we will not have imagined. As mentioned above, Thor will be parting with Groot and Rocket and many more similar team-ups are going to take place right from the beginning of the movie. The most apparent team up will be of the science and Magic bros, where Tony and Banner will be teaming up with Strange and Wong right at the beginning of the movie.
New Suits
The new covers released give us a look at many of the new suits that the Superheroes will be wearing. We saw that Thor has a new suit, Black Widow does, Iron Man and Spider-Man obviously do, and even War Machine gets a great new armor.
Rhodey’s walking ability
As we all know, Rhodey got injured for life and lost the ability to walk himself towards the end of the airport battle. Now, a new image revealed in the coverage reveals how Rhodey will be able to walk and get back to battle in Infinity War. This image shows him standing with Cap and Nat, and he is wearing new tech legs which are assisting him to walk.
Bucky is officially the White Wolf now
In the Post credits scene of Black Panther, we saw Bucky wake up from cryo-sleep, and the kids in Wakanda were referring to his as the White Wolf. Well, this is not any Easter Egg, as Bucky will formally be called White Wolf in the MCU from now on, as revealed by the EW magazine. So this means that Sam will go on to become Captain America in the future.
Falcon holds grudges
Sam does whatever Steve does, just slower. So here also, he will be slower in following Steve to work with his former enemies, Iron Man and even Black Panther. He holds a grudge against Tony as he asked him to go to Syberia as a friend, but we all know what happened there.
Captain America will not be using ‘Stolen’ Vibranium this time
We don’t know how Howard Stark got the Vibranium, but it is believed that it was stolen by his researchers back then. This time around, Cap gets two new shield gauntlets as gifts from T’Challa and Shuri. Here’s what Chadwick Boseman said:
“They trust each other. His shield was already made from vibranium anyway. So it’s just an extension of what he already had. This time, actually giving it to him, as opposed to…[Boseman shrugs]. Me actually giving it to him is a testament to our relationship and trust.”
Cap and Thor will reunite
This is one pair we would love to see back together as both of them have been separated since Age of Ultron. A lot has changed since then. Both these individuals have gone through a lot and the EW coverage reveals that they will reunite during the Battle of Wakanda, sharing cool moments fighting together. Both of them are going to have a lot of catching up to do.
Black Widow is harder than ever
Black Widow is kind of a bad ass. This movie will show her even more hardened and battle ready, and she should be, as the outrider’s army is not going to show any mercy. Here’s what Johansson said about her:
“I think it’s been a dark time. I wouldn’t say that my character has been particularly hopeful, but I think she’s hardened even more than she probably was before.”
Supers are going to die
Well, this is expected but, Robert Downey Jr. himself has teased the death of one or many Avengers in the movie. He mentioned stuff about things and consequences getting definite in the movie. Here’s what he said:
“We’re going to pull out the stops, and stop exploring conventions, and look to do stuff where we go, ‘Oh, but if we do that, that’s very, very definitive.’ Well, great, let’s get definitive for a change! “We’re like a family now. Ten years later, we’re hanging out and having lunch, and kind of wondering when the draft is going to come in. Which one of us bites it and when?”
