Marvel came out with the final trailer for Avengers Infinity war. It marked the start of the dominance of Thanos over the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the moment that fans have been waiting for over a decade. As the marketing rams up, we gain more and more insight into the plot of the Avengers Infinity War. The final infinity war trailer goes a long way in establishing just how big a threat Thanos and his generals are to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s earth.
The Avengers will face their greatest challenge in the form of the mad Titan coming for the infinity stones. In this war, the Avengers will have to pull every trick in their arsenal if they even want to match Thanos’ power. Like any war, the infinity war will also be won by the parties with the better information on the opponent. The Russos were asked to describe the movie and they called ‘Avengers Infinity War’ as the heist movie as Thanos will come to steal all six cosmic singularities namely Power, Space, Mind, Time, Reality, Soul to become the ultimate ruler of the cosmos. Here is what they said:
“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.
The Avengers Infinity war prequel comics and the trailer point to an event that puts Doctor Steven Strange right in the middle of this infinity war. The prequel comics tell us that Doctor Strange has figured out the location of all the infinity stones. If this statement holds true, then the Doctor Strange torture and capture scene in the final infinity war trailer makes much more sense.
You see, the scene where we see doctor strange being tortured in the trailer is a reference to the 2003 infinity war comic event where Doctor Strange was captured and coerced at the hands of Ebony Maw ( a general to Thanos’ Army).
The sorcerer supreme is an extremely intelligent individual in the Marvel comic verse. He is not only a master of the arcane magic arts but he also possesses one of the highest rated intelligence in all of the marvel multiverse. The arcane magician is a strategic thinker and at times an all-knowing entity. The sorcerer supreme, using his immense powers and intellect, has figured out the locations of all the infinity gems, something that even the mad Titan has been unable to do, with all his immense resources. Doctor Strange is essentially the scout to iron man’s army.
The most common reference In the trailer comes from the fact that Doctor strange knows the location of all infinity gems. This makes him a target for Thanos and Thanos’ forces. This means that it is highly likely that the fans will witness a clash between the sadistic Ebony maw and a tortured Doctor Strange. Is this the end of the movie after a failed infiltration attempt by the sorcerer supreme or is it something else?
The most common theory on the subject suggests that Doctor Strange will fight alongside Earth’s mightiest heroes to deter Thanos from conquering the planet. It seems highly likely, however, that the heroes will fall albeit after a huge power struggle.
But what does Doctor Strange’s torture have to do with the entire premise?
Well you see, it is predicted that Thanos will be the first to arrive on Earth after acquiring the space stone. This is when Thanos will begin to dismantle the resident superheroes of New York. This will include Iron Man, Spiderman, and the sorcerer supreme Doctor Steven Strange. Once Thanos takes each of these heroes down he will abduct Doctor Strange and place him in the custody of Ebony Maw to retrieve information from strange on the location of rest of the infinity stones.
This is a huge cause for worry because Ebony Maw was the creature who manipulated Strange’s mind in Marvel comics and turned Strange against The Avengers. It is quite possible that we see the entire comic storyline play out as is in infinity war. But an adoption of the comic arc will be fun to see. To imagine Thor and the rest of the Avengers taking on Doctor Strange’s magical might make my skin crawl with excitement and urgency.
As if Thanos’ armies were not enough, now the Avengers might even have to deal with the magic of the sorcerer supreme.
Another iteration of the theory also suggests that even though Doctor Strange will be tortured by Ebony Maw there will be no mind control. In this scenario, it is predicted that Spiderman will eventually infiltrate Thanos’s ship to bust out Doctor Strange and get him ready for the final Battle against Thanos.

The official synopsis for the movie ‘Avengers Infinity War’ released by Marvel can be read as:

Avengers Infinity War will hit the theaters worldwide on April 27, 2018. The movie is directed by Russo brothers i.e Joe and Anthony Russo and produced by Marvel top executive Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and veteran of Marvel comics Stan Lee. The screenplay has been written by an amazing duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Can the alliance between Avengers and Guardians be sufficient to take down the most dangerous cosmic supervillain in the MCU?
