In November 2016 we were introduced to a whole new franchise set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. The first movie in the Fantastic beasts franchise gave us Newt Scamander and his interesting beasts with a lot of other important characters and of course the villain of the series. As this series is set seventy years before the time of Harry Potter, we can expect certain things and plots in the coming movies. ‘Crimes of Grindelwald’ comes out in 2019 and here are some of the things we wish to see:
10. More Fantastic Beasts:
The first film introduced us to many new and interesting creatures like the Niffler, Thunderbird, Occamy, Erumpent etc. We can expect some more creatures in the next installments as the title of the series is ‘Fantastic Beasts’ (the names of the future installments have not been revealed yet). Also, we might see Newt’s book getting published.
9. More Jacob Kowalski:
In the first movie a character that we were not expecting to be so fascinating was the muggle friend of Newt Scamander, Jacob Kowalski played brilliantly by Dan Fogler. This character was so relatable for all the fans because Jacob is basically a portrayal of the whole Potter fandom which is fascinated by magic. We would love to see him again in the next movie.
8. Other Wizarding communities:
The Potter series was based on the wizarding community of England only and we never got to know much about the wizards and witches from other parts of the world except in Goblet of fire. Fantastic beasts franchise has widened the horizon and introduced us to the wizarding community of America. The next film is set in Paris so we are expecting some more culture and magic.
7. The old Hogwarts:
The timeline of the movie is set in the past which makes it a prequel to Harry Potter. This raises the question whether we will get a glimpse of the old Hogwarts or not. As the movies might give us a lot of young Dumbledore, we can certainly expect to see our beloved school again.
6. Grindelwald’s supporters:
Grindelwald is known to be the evilest villain in the Potter universe and we have heard he was worse than Voldemort. What we want to see is whether he has an army as good as the death eaters or is he more of a one man army guy? It would be cool if he has some powerful supporters.
5. Return of Credence:
Another character that stood out for us in the first movie was Credence Barebone played to perfection by Ezra Miller. This character was so intriguing that we wanted to know more about him throughout the movie. Even though Credence was killed at the end of the movie Ezra Miller is returning for the next one so we are positive that Credence will make a comeback.
4. Newt’s relationship with Leta Lestrange:
A scene in the first movie gave us a glimpse at a new character called Leta Lestrange (she was shown in a photo in Newt’s suitcase) and has appeared in the motion poster of the next film. She is hinted to be an old love interest of Newt and the spouse of his elder brother Theseus Scamander. We smell some drama ahead and are ready for it!
3. Ariana Dumbledore:
This one is a bit difficult but we can all dream, right? As soon as the first film came out there were theories that Ariana Dumbledore might have been an Obscurus. This theory has made her character even more intriguing. The fact that Grindelwald has been shown at least 50 years of age makes it difficult for Ariana to appear in the story because she died very young and probably when Dumbledore was in his 20s. Still, we hope to see some flashbacks which might establish Grindelwald’s and Dumbledore’s relationship in the films. Fingers crossed!
2. Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s friendship:
This is the most anticipated thing as we would love to see some flashbacks into the lives of the two great wizards and the starting of their friendship. The conflict between them is definitely intriguing but there was a time when they were great friends and we want to see that as it would be a great contrast with the final duel between them.
1. Grindelwald vs Dumbledore!
This is probably the point we are almost certain of seeing in the future installments. Those who have read the books would know about the duel between Grindelwald and Dumbledore which made Dumbledore the master of the Elder Wand. The biggest thing we are expecting from this franchise is that duel and ultimately the power struggle between the two legendary wizards. There is not much chance of this happening in the second movie itself but it is definitely something we are excited to watch in the future films.
