10 Heart-Crushing Deaths In Movies That Came Out of Nowhere

Some movies deaths turn out to be really funny while people do not care a lot about some characters so the deaths of these characters do not bother much. But, some characters become so beloved with time, that fans are devastated when they see them die suddenly. Here is a list of some deaths that gave fans a heartache.

Apollo Creed-Rocky IV

The fourth installment in Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise is considered to be the best of the entire franchise as the movie was full of heart and inspiration. But it also had one huge moment in the first act of the movie itself when Apollo Creed fought the Russian, Ivan Drago. Drago turned out to be insanely powerful and his strong punches actually took out Apollo Creed for good right in the ring.

Yondu – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Yondu’s journey into the world of heroism is a troubled and inspirational one. He used to be a Ravager, an inter-galactic Pirate Organization but was then kicked out for unknowingly participating in child trafficking. He then redeems himself when he saves Quill from certain death by giving the only breathing mask to him as he himself suffocates to death in the vacuum of space. This came out of nowhere as actor Michael Rooker actually had fans believing that he will appear in Infinity War.

Rory Adams – Life

2017’s Life was a very great attempt, and it was way better than Ridley Scott’s Alien Covenant. The movie was star-studded as it had Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ryan Reynolds. The movie was built on a good premise and had a pretty threatening alien all things considered. One thing which no one expected to see was the death of Rory Adams (Reynold’s character) in the first half of the movie itself. He fought bravely against the alien and still died, leaving fans in awe.

Quicksilver – Avengers: Age of Ultron

Superheroes do not die, especially in movies related to the MCU. Well, this trend was until Age of Ultron, and throughout the movie, fans were getting ready for a great final battle assuming after everything’s settled, and the Avengers kick Ultron’s Ass, they all would get to go home. But, at the end, Hawkeye was ready to die in order to save the life of a kid and Quicksilver sacrificed himself running into the line of fire, saving both Clint and the Kid. He fell on the ground saying the truth of the moment – You didn’t see that coming!

Superman – Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Even though this movie divided fans as it got mixed reviews, everyone loved at least 3 things about it – Ben Affleck’s Batman, everything about Wonder Woman, and Superman’s sacrifice at the end. In the movie also, people were divided as some supported Superman, while some did not. Fans though since the movie is loosely based on the comics as it had altered Doomsday’s origin, it may even alter the events in the comics. But, at the end, everyone was united seeing Superman’s selfless act, giving his life and taking Doomsday down along with him.

Tracy Mills – Seven

Seven is one of the best crime thrillers of all time as it keeps us waiting for the suspense of a brutal murder. David Mills’ (Brad Pitt) wife was murdered towards the end of the movie by John Doe (Kevin Spacey). Tracy Mills’ (Gwyneth Paltrow) death came out of nowhere and hit David right in his face, and the fans were left both threatened and sad when they witnessed the way this death was revealed. It was brutal as David was delivered a mail which had a box containing the head of his wife.

Han Solo – Star Wars: The Force Awakens

One of the most gruesome deaths in the movies was without a doubt of Han Solo in Star Wars Episode VII. The movie was celebrated a lot as the franchise returned after so many years when Disney bought the rights to it. It broke the box office as we got to see a new trio of heroes facing off against a new and deadly villain, Kylo Ren who turned out to be the son of Han Solo himself. But fans were astonished to see that Kylo Ren himself murdered his own father when Solo confronted him.

Professor X – Logan

Patrick Stewart played the role of Professor Charles Xavier for so long that it’s his face and not James McAvoy’s that comes to mind when we think of Professor X. In Logan, Professor X is in his nineties and suffers from a brain disease that makes his powers cause violent seizures. We expected a great send-off but he is killed off brutally by X-24, a clone of Wolverine that is younger, stronger and faster than the original and no one saw it coming. The scene was really moving.

Jack Dawson – Titanic

Titanic is considered to be one of the best romantic movies of all time. It was a true masterpiece by James Cameron and is the second highest grossing movie worldwide. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet delivered remarkable performances and the entire audience was left crying at the end of this disaster flick when Jack (Leo) died to freeze in the cold sea, sacrificing himself in order to save his true love, Rose.

Wolverine – Logan

heart breaking deaths

This death was too close to the heart for a lot of people. Logan ended with Logan’s death when he finally faced off against the Reavers and X-24, a better-cloned version of the current Wolverine. For once, Logan died fighting for something other than him. In the end, the one thing that Logan craved for most his entire life – a family, was gifted to him in the form of X-23 as he took his final breaths. His last words were – “So this is what it feels like….” This was a tribute to the character we have grown watching for 17 years.
