Iron Man Is Not Inside The HulkBuster Armor

Avengers: Infinity War trailer came and conquered the internet. The trailer was epic, breathtaking, an action-packed extravaganza that has the potential to become the highest-grossing movie ever given the massive positive reception it has received in the first 24 hours of release from Marvel fan community and superhero film lovers in general.

Although the Infinity war cast is stacked up with heavy-weights, the most important comic-book character is Thanos. Till now, he has been teased in Marvel movies in post-credits of Phase 2, 3 films, but Infinity war will be the first major project where he is going to be the central antagonist pursuing his sinister ends.

We saw Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor making a comeback in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer. Tony Stark made this suit to take down his fellow Avenger, the Hulk in case the Green Guy ever goes against the team or pose a major threat to the innocents. The armor first made its appearance in Iron Man Vol.1 #304 which came in 1994.

The Hulkbuster Armor has already appeared in the Avengers: Age of Ultron where the Hulk goes insane after being affected by Scarlet Witch’s powers and Tony Stark was left with no choice but to use the armor to stop him. The movie showed Tony succeeding in stopping the Hulk and the armor was not used since then.

Now, the trailer of Avengers: Infinity War once again brought back those memories and we saw the armor making its return. But what if it wasn’t Tony Stark inside the suit?

Hulkbuster

If you have noticed Bruce Banner was standing next to the forearm of the Hulkbuster armor, which is quite curious as the sole purpose of the armor is to stop him. Well, not exactly him, but the other guy. And later in the trailer, we saw the armor in action in Wakanda.

At the end of the trailer, we saw the Hulk along with Captain America, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, War Machine, Falcon, Black Widow and the Wakandans marching towards the army of the aliens. Whereas, Iron Man was nowhere in the scene. What if Bruce Banner was the one donning the HulkBuster armor and was trying to save himself from turning into the green monster?

Yes, we do know Tony Stark doesn’t require to be in the suit to make it function as we saw in Spider-Man: Homecoming. But this has happened in the comics where Bruce Banner wore the Iron Man armor in a battle in Avengers Assemble #6. In that battle, Tony Stark sent Bruce Banner as a Trojan Horse to stop the invasion from the Mad Titan. The very issue also includes Avengers joining forces with the Guardians. Seems like something similar will happen in the movie too!

Hulk is indestructible and as his anger grows, he becomes more powerful. But that doesn’t mean he can handle the opposing force such as Thanos. The Hulkbuster armor would be of great use for the Hulk and the team who have to handle their greatest threat to date. Well, we just have to wait and see what really happens when the movie hits the theatres.

Marvel Studios has recently released a brand new synopsis of the movie:
