During a recent interview, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa, finally confirmed the rumored release of season 8. Earlier this year, reports had hit the internet that production on the final season of HBO’s hit TV series was going to be delayed which would surely impact on the release of a show as it might get pushed even further and make us wait for another whole year.
Now, with the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones currently under production, fans are still eager to get to know when the series will return as HBO is yet to confirm an official premiere date for the upcoming season. Now, Sophie Turner has stated that the show will not return until 2019 during a conversation about her bright future and her career in the upcoming year.
“Yeah, I’m really excited. “Game of Thrones” comes out in 2019. “Dark Phoenix” is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie [“Girl Who Fell From the Sky”]. So I’m really excited about the future.”
Well, it might be disappointing for most of the fans as we all have to wait for more than a year for the conclusion of this epic saga which is now for sure coming out in 2019. This year’s season finale left us on a big cliff-hanger about the future of certain characters and the wait for the next season might be killing for some fans.
Game of Thrones fans goes really crazy over every detail that gets revealed as all those details have the potential to be something big. Fans really hate it when they come to know a key plot point before witnessing it themselves, and at the same time, they keep predicting what will happen next on the show as it always leaves everyone hanging on a very tall cliff.
Earlier this year, two huge actors, who play key characters on the show have revealed some massive spoilers which the fans would love and hate at the same time. After the finale, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays Jaime spoke about his character in an interview. He chatted for a bit about the Season 7 finale before turning his attention to the upcoming installment.
If you thought that seeing Viserion turned into a wight was tough to watch, you’d better prepare yourself for heartbreak when Game of Thrones returns for its final season. Things got pretty intense when Nikolaj revealed that his character Jaime might not survive the next season and Viserion will not be the last one to be transformed into a Wight by the Night King.
“The fear is that I would be turned into one of that undead, that would suck. You know some of the main characters are going to get turned. There are going to be some blue-eyed main characters running around. And, god, I hope it’s not me.”
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau had a chat with IndieWire where he said that Jaime is officially disgusted with Cersei’s mad pursuit of power at the cost of entire humanity. She is all about herself and holds onto power without any responsibility.
He is finally off her leash and is heading towards the North as he gave his word. In the final confrontation, he made it clear to her that she is all alone in this world now which was shocking to hear as a baby is on his/her way.
This is what he said:
“She has so little interest or regard for the rest of humanity. It’s all about just her power… He is truly disgusted by the way she acts. At this point, the threat is clearly real. He believes what he sees, he believes his brother, he believes Jon Snow, he believes Daenerys when she says there’s an army of 100,000 marching. That is so much bigger than anything they’ve ever faced… I think that at this point, even the fact that she’s pregnant, there are bigger things at stake because it’s true what he says, ’“No matter what, if the dead wins, there will be no child.’ There is no choice.”
There is going to be a great battle amongst the living and the dead in the 8th instalment of the show and now our deepest fears have come true as Nikolaj has revealed that not just he himself, there are other huge characters who will be turned into Wights and we are going to hate every bit of that reality.
Now it is just a matter of figuring out that who will be the ones that will get turned into Wights in the great war.
Other than Nikolaj, The actor who plays Beric Dondarrion, Richard Dormer, hinted at the future of his character, and Tormund’s, as well as One of the most important things surrounding the events of the finale, was the fate of Beric Dondarrion and Tormund. They were both atop the Wall when the Night King begins his invasion. As the Wall continued to melt, they both tried to run away.
But, the Wall collapsed and we didn’t really get to see if they lived or died. Because they’re Important characters, so there will always be speculation about their futures until we actually see them in the next season. When asked if they were dead, he said:
“Well now, that is the question and I’m not allowed to say – that’s not a yes or a no. I think it would be a pretty uncool death for both those characters if they did die in the wall. You would expect something a bit more dramatic or to at least see them die.”
Well, that is pretty much a confirmation that Tormund and Beric are indeed going to survive and it is only a matter of figuring out how that happens. One might think that a fall from that height after the wall melted down would surely kill everyone.
But if you did observe clearly, Tormund and Beric witnessed the wall to melt down from where they were standing, and we can clearly see that only a half of the wall ended up being melted. So, it is a huge possibility that the two characters are still on the top of the wall, on the half that is still standing upright, because the show only made us think that the characters might be dead right there.
Fans will be really disappointed if they die in vain. And actor Nikolaj’s words will come true right in the beginning of season 8 as those two will surely be turned into Wights as well. Hopefully, this does not happen and our theory turns out to be correct. Let’s just wait for the next season and find out the fate of these two characters and who will transform into a freaking Wight!
