This Actor Has Broken His Nose Thrice While Performing His Own Stunts

Recently, bad news came from MI-6 sets as the actor Tom Cruise seriously injured himself while performing one of the daredevil stunts.

Tom Cruise was shooting in London where he was performing an action sequence where he was supposed to jump from a rig to a rooftop assisted by safety wires. Apparently, he made an impressive leap but couldn’t land properly, in the end, slamming into the side of a building. He then started limping and collapsed in front of the crew.

The details of injury came out and it’s far worse than we expected. He suffered two broken bones in his ankle and went to US for treatment. One of the credible sources said:

“The injury is worse than was at first feared. Tom did serious damage and will need months to recover. He is the film’s biggest star and everything revolves around him. The movie’s bosses had no choice other than to postpone the filming.” Thank goodness, the movie has resumed production and Tom Cruise is still doing his own stunts.

Tom Cruise was always a great actor, but MI series turned him into a mega star. He is famous for performing daring stunts without a stunt double. With each passing movie, he raised the stakes, in MI 4: Ghost Protocol, he climbed the world’s tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa in Dubai, while in Rogue Nation he was literally dangling outside an actual plane. It’s been a great run for the team behind MI movies which is one of the most successful and entertaining action franchises in Hollywood. David Ellison (the producer) revealed that the upcoming MI movie will feature the biggest stunt of Tom Cruise.

Guess what, there is another huge star who performs his own stunts but does’nt make as much news as Cruise, it’s Tom Holland aka Spiderman. One of the reasons why he is so perfect as the beloved web slinger is because he is also real life Peter Parker. He is kind, athletic and perform his own stunts. Infact, he has paid a price as he has hurt his nose thrice already.

At New York Film Festival, 2016 he revealed that he broke his nose while demonstrating his acrobatic skills to the director. He said:

“I remember hitting my face on the floor going, ‘S––t! That didn’t happen.’ I stood up, I thought I knocked my teeth out, and the makeup artist was laughing at me. And when she saw my face, it went from like ‘Haha’ to ‘Oh, medic, medic!'”

Within few months, he broke his nose again while shooting sci-fi movie ‘Chaos Walking’ and it just did not end there, he took to Instagram after having wrapped up the movie and shared his painful injury holding a pack of ice.

He will be next seen in Avengers Infinity war, followed by Avengers 4 and then Spiderman: Homecoming 2 which is going to be released in the same year.

But Machete star Danny Trejo slammed actors who perform their own stunts. He is of the view that actors should stick to acting and let stuntmen do their jobs. He is a huge action star who has over 300 credits to his name, this is huge coming from him, but he believes actors should stay away from potentially dangerous stunts. This is what he said:

Danny Trejo

“I know that all the big stars hate me to say this, but I don’t want to risk 80 peoples’ jobs just to say I got big huevos on The Tonight Show. Because that’s what happens. I think a big star just sprained an ankle doing a stunt, and 80 or 180 people are out of a job.”

He was clearly referring to Cruise who is now taking helicopter flight lessons for Top Gun 2. He says that while Cruise is recovering from his injury, the rest of the cast and crew is jobless and the actor is responsible for that. He said:

“We have stunt people who do that stuff. And if they get hurt, I’m sorry to say but they just need to put a mustache on another Mexican and we can keep going. But if I get hurt, everybody’s out of a job. So I don’t choose to do that.”

He definitely makes a good point, as some people say that there should be kind of insurance for things like these, but how far would insurance cover go, Will it cover builders and craft services personnel? In the past there have been so many instances where actors hurt themselves. Once Jackie Chan fractured his skull when he fell from a tree on the sets of Armor of God, Stallone broke his neck during “The Expendables” and Angelina Jolie hurt herself badly during the shooting of Salt. Well, all we can is take safety precautions while doing these insane stunts.
