Justice League: An Insane Theory About Green Lantern May Actually Come True

The Justice League movie has a strong ensemble cast including Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder-woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). The movie is directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio based on the characters of DC comics. The story of Justice League will follow the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and mark the Phase 1 of DC Cinematic Universe. The movie will assemble the greatest DC superheroes under one roof against a terrifying adversary Steppenwolf.

At the end of the Batman v Superman, the Man of Steel was dead, while Batman and Wonder Woman had begun to assemble the Justice League, an elite team of superheroes to fight a supervillain Steppenwolf who has been awakened in the wake of events. The Steppenwolf is basically the military general of Darkseid who have sent parademons to interrogate/kidnap Batman and Earth’s scientists to retrieve Apokoliptian Motherbox which is the most powerful object in the realm.

Unfortunately, due to personal tragedy, Zack Snyder had to leave the project midway, and Joss Whedon (The Avengers) had to come onboard to take the superhero movie to its logical conclusion. For a month now, there were reports of massive reshoots by Joss Whedon and the studio has infused additional $25 million into the project, and now it’s a whole lot better. The previous version was replete with inconsistencies and Joss Whedon took the knife to the script and completely changed the tone of the movie. The minor cuts turned into marathon shoots. Ben Affleck recently said that Justice League “is the product of two different directors”. But according to credible sources, there are new elements being introduced by Whedon but the vision of Zack Snyder has not been changed.

The latest issue of Total Film Magazine had a cover story on Justice League and the magazine described the movie as a direct sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Here’s what it said:

“Superman in the grave after sacrificing himself during the battle against Doomsday. Batman and Wonder Woman are gathered in mourning before Steppenwolf makes himself known, leaving the duo to team up with other enhanced heroes.”

The Slashfilm’s podcast claims that Joss Whedon had fundamentally altered the ending of the movie. According to Peter Sciretta, the movie will no longer end on a cliff-hanger, roll back parts related to the arrival of Dark Seid on Earth. Further, it may have a flashback scene of Robin Wright’s character General Antiope from Wonder Woman. He explained:

“The original ending of the movie from what I understand was that he was kind of playing the Silver Surfer role and Darkseid playing kind of the Galactus role, and the ending of the movie was a cliffhanger and Justice League 2 was going to be Justice League vs. Darkseid. Darkest arrives at Earth. It was kind of like this down, dirty ending and from what I understand that has been completely removed. The ending ends the movie like a movie and it doesn’t leave a cliffhanger now. They did a reshoot with Robin Wright from Wonder Woman and that’s gonna be a flashback explaining who Steppenwolf is and he’s now the big bad of this movie whereas Darkseid was this looming threat who won’t come.”

The upcoming Justice League movie by the looks of it seems to be pretty massive undertaking and considering what Wonder Woman has done for the DCEU, it is plausible that Justice League might even beat The Avengers as Wonder Woman was much better than many MCU movies. Even though we have seen quite a bit of footage of the movie in the trailers, most of the plot of the movie still has not been given out which is great. But, the footage that we have seen has not stopped fans from predicting that what is going to happen in the movie.

Justice League fans are finally getting to know the main villain of the film, but what if there’s also a former hero on his team? That’s the premise of a new fan theory that’s surfaced thanks to the Justice League toys.

As seen in the trailers, Steppenwolf’s main force is made up of Parademons, the relied upon an army of choice for Darkseid. Most of the Parademons lack colorful characteristics, but one version stands out thanks to its green armor.

We know that the Green Lantern Corps exists in the DCEU right now, even before the movie featuring it will not come out until 2020. We know it because Steppenwolf had mentioned it in the latest Justice League Trailer which was shown at Comic.

Steppenwolf says “No protectors here. No Lanterns. No Kryptonian. This world will fall, like all the others.”

So obviously Lanterns exist and if not multiple, at least one Lantern has been assigned to Earth’s sector. So if a Lantern exists in the present DCEU, what has really happened to him/her and how does Steppenwolf know that he or she is not guarding Earth currently!

According to a new fan theory, the release of a new Justice League Action figure provides the answer to this question.

What if Steppenwolf took out Earth’s Lantern protector? Knowing him, it isn’t hard to imagine he went one step further and turned Earth’s Green Lantern into one of his Parademon soldiers.

Green-Lantern-Fan-Theory

The picture he posted shows the up close shot of the Parademon action figure alongside a mock-up of what a DCEU Green Lantern could look like, and it doesn’t seem completely unfathomable.

If this figure is one of many that look like it, perhaps Steppenwolf has been attacking the Green Lanterns as a whole, picking them off one by one and turning them into his soldiers. It would explain their lesser presence, and ultimately why they decide to help the Justice League take on Apokolips’ forces in the future.

The second theory says that Steppenwolf has been planning this attack for some time, biding his time until Earth was most vulnerable.

So, it makes sense that he would seek out the most prominent threat first, and since he knows of the Lanterns they would be an obvious first choice.

So, when the Justice League fighting their way into Steppenwolf’s ship. They discover a man in obvious pain attached to cables, which are drawing power from him. Unsure of how long he’s been there, the League asks “what kind of a man could take that?”

Wonder Woman says “One with a mighty will”, and frees the mysterious man, who turns out to be Hal Jordan. It would seem Steppenwolf took Earth’s Lantern guardian off the board and used his power to his benefit. Now that Superman is “dead”, the time to strike was too good to pass up.

There is a third theory that might come in the o fold. A rumor has been going on for quite a while that one of the lanterns from the Green Lantern Corps is going to feature in the Justice League movie. This could mean that the person at the end of the latest trailer who meets Alfred is Abin Sur, as he is a red Alien and we see a red colored individual in front of Alfred and he might be there to even kill him.

What do you guys think about these theories? Do you think any of these could come true in Justice League? We would have to wait for the movie to come out in November to be sure of Green Lantern’s presence in the movie because DC has managed to keep very quiet about it.

For months, the center of attention has been Ben Affleck’s Batman as he is responsible for putting together an elite team of superheroes to protect the planet from the ultimate destruction. This was also reflected in the first line of the old synopsis.

Here’s the synopsis of JL:

“In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of meta-humans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions”.

But in the new synopsis, the role of Wonder Woman is shown to be prime. Here’s the new official synopsis:

“Once again, Wonder Woman must demonstrate her ability as a fierce warrior. Facing a great enemy, she and Batman join forces to recruit a group of meta-humans to stand against this newly awakened threat. Having formed an unprecedented League of heroes, they set out to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

All the DC fans are looking forward to an exciting fun-filled Justice League movie to be released on November 17, 2017. CHEERS!
