10 Crazy Harry Potter Fan Theories That Will Blow Your Mind

The Harry Potter books may have ended (for now) but there is always fan fiction and theories that keep us going and give us the regular dose of magic. There have been many theories in the past and while some are good, others are crazy. Let us take a look at some of these Harry Potter theories and see if they are worth the time.

10. Crookshanks:

According to the last book Potters had a pet cat. The first theory suggests that Crookshanks is the cat that was once owned by the Potters and then came to Hermione. Crookshanks still recognizes Harry Potter and therefore likes to stay near him.

The second theory, however, is crazy and suggests that Crookshanks is actually Lily Potter! Lily was reincarnated as Crookshanks and now watches over Harry and therefore it hates Scabbers who was actually Pettigrew.

9. Minerva McGonagall is a death eater:

One of the craziest theories Potterheads have managed to come up with is that McGonagall is actually a death eater. For evidence, the fans have suggested that Prof. McGonagall was a bit too harsh when teaching students a lesson. She even punished the first year students to go to the Forbidden Forest as detention because she secretly wished Harry to get killed. Sorry but this is one of the most rubbish theories ever!

8. Harry being a Horcrux is why the Dursley’s hate him:

This theory has been around for a while and explains the terrible behavior of the Dursleys towards Harry. Harry, as we know, was the Horcrux Voldemort never meant to make and therefore he had a part of the dark lord’s soul inside him. The theory suggests that Dursleys hated Harry Potter because he was a Horcrux and Horcruxes are dark objects that let out negative energy that can alter the personalities of people around them.

This, however, is not a full proof theory as we know that Harry’s friends spent a lot of time with him too and still didn’t hate him or treat him bad. Also according to the books Petunia and Vernon hated James and wizards and witches in general so it makes sense that they hate Harry Potter.

7. Ginny gave Harry a love potion:

Many fans think that Harry and Ginny’s romance was rather abrupt and they didn’t see it coming. They get together in HBP which is also the book that talks a lot about love potions and their effects. According to this theory, Ginny actually gave Harry a love potion that made him fall for her.

In our opinion, this theory only exists because of the fact that the screen writers screwed up Harry and Ginny’s plot in the movies. It is true that their romance doesn’t really build up from the beginning but the movies had screwed up Ginny’s character altogether! This led to an awkward romance in the movies.

6. JK Rowling is actually Rita Skeeter:

This one is actually fun and interesting. So Rita Skeeter was fired from the Daily Prophet for being a disgrace to journalism which is why she became a Muggle author and wrote a whole story about the wizarding world and revealed its secrets because she was angry at the wizarding world. This has led the wizarding world to go even more underground and hide and make it look like just a fiction story when it is actually revealing their darkest secrets. You have to admit this is funny and makes you wonder if it holds any truth!

5. It was all a dream:

This has to be one of the most depressing theories ever. It suggests that maybe Harry was so fed up with his life and living in that cupboard that he hallucinated the entire story or simply dreamt it. The theory is depressing because it directly says that the whole thing never happened and Hogwarts doesn’t really exist and Harry goes on to live in that cupboard for years!

4. Mary Poppins is a Hogwarts graduate:

So those who love the tale of Mary Poppins would love this theory as it suggests that it happens in the same universe as HP. According to the theory, Mary Poppins is a Hogwarts graduate who decided to live in the muggle world and help muggle children. Instead of a wand she uses her umbrella (like Hagrid) and has a bag that can hide anything (like Hermione). This is a good theory and we would love to add Mary Poppins to our universe!

3. Neville was never bad at magic:

This is one solid theory and it suggests that Neville Longbottom did not just transform from ‘almost a squib’ to a badass but actually was good at magic all along. The books say that Neville had been using his father’s wand since the first year and did not buy a wand for himself. In the fifth book, however, his father’s wand breaks and then he gets a new one. After that, we all know Neville became good at magic, so it is safe to assume that Neville was never bad at magic! He just never got his own wand and therefore he suffered.

2. Dumbledore is death:

Harry Potter

One of the most famous theories, it suggests that Albus Dumbledore is death in disguise. According to the tale of three brothers, death gives the three hallows to the brothers. We all know that Dumbledore gives Harry the cloak of invisibility and the resurrection stone and was disarmed by Draco which led to Harry becoming the master of the Elder wand. Also, it is Dumbledore that meets Harry like an old friend when he dies. So Dumbledore was dead all along.

 1. Draco Malfoy is a werewolf:

This is a relatively new theory and has some good evidence too. In the HBP we know that Draco has been chosen by the dark lord to kill Dumbledore mainly because of Lucius’s mistakes. The theory suggests that maybe Voldemort wanted to punish Lucius even further and therefore ordered Greyback to turn Draco into a werewolf. This is why we see him so helpless and disturbed in the 6th book and Snape helps Draco to make him wolfsbane potion just like he did for Lupin in POA. The theory is very interesting and gives an edge to Draco’s character.
