This Is Really Bad News Coming From Mission Impossible 6 Sets

The Mission Impossible franchise is one of the most successful and entertaining action franchises in Hollywood. Tom Cruise was always a great actor, but MI series turned him into a mega star. He is famous for performing daring stunts without a stunt double. With each passing movie, he has raised the stakes, in Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol, he climbed the world’s tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa in Dubai, while in Rogue Nation he was literally dangling outside an actual plane. David Ellison (the producer) recently revealed that the upcoming Mission Impossible movie will feature the biggest stunt of Tom Cruise.

Well, there is bad news coming from MI-6 sets as Tom Cruise has seriously injured himself while performing one of the daredevil stunts.

The complete details of how it happened are not out in the public domain yet, but this will affect the filming schedule for Mission Impossible-6 and could even impact the film itself.

Tom Cruise was shooting in London where he was performing an action sequence where he was supposed to jump from a rig to a rooftop assisted by safety wires. Apparently, he made an impressive leap but couldn’t land properly, in the end, slamming into the side of a building. He then started limping and then collapsed in front of the crew. The extent of his injuries is still unknown.

His representatives are not answering requests of publications, but all we know is that filming schedule will be significantly disrupted. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

At CinemaCon, Paramount made it clear that they would film Mission Impossible-6 in IMAX for enhanced experience of the cinemagoers. Jeff Sneider has confirmed a series of locations – London, India, Paris, Newzealand.  The cast has finished their Newzealand shoot and Tom Cruise had this to say:

“Thank you to the amazing people of New Zealand! I’ve had a great time filming the next Mission: Impossible here.”

Recently, the director of MI 6 Christopher Macquarie made the announcement on his instagram account that Henry Cavill (who played Superman/ Man of Steel) has agreed to be part of the next movie in the MI franchise. He will be the right-hand man of IMF’s head played by Alec Baldwin. He will also fill in the void left by Jeremy Reiner who played Brandt in MI: 4 and MI: 5. The MI 6 director said in the message directed towards Cavill – “Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.” Cavill replied, “Oh ok…..I’m in!” To this, he responded @henrycavill Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self-destruct in 5 seconds.”

Rebecca Ferguson’s character Ilsa Faust who was also part of MI 5: Rogue Nation, will reprise her character in MI: 6. The team includes Luther Stickle (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) who will help Ethan Hunt in executing the mission. The biggest surprise for the fans is the arrival of Michelle Monaghan who married Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) in MI: 3, had a surprise cameo in MI: 5 and now returning for MI: 6. She tweeted about this:

“Mission accepted. So thrilled to be reuniting w/ @TomCruise for #MI6! Can’t wait to show you guys more of Julia’s story #missionimpossible”

In the previous films too, IMAX 3D has been used for specific scenes, but the extent of usage of this revolutionary technology will put this one in a totally different league.

The Avenger Infinity war movies are filmed entirely in IMAX, further Disney took the same approach with “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson. The recent Christopher Nolan movie Dunkirk is being shot in the enhanced format as well.

The tentative release date set by Paramount is July 27, 2018.
