5 Times Superheroes Betrayed Their Sidekicks

Superheroes sure are loved and respected by the kids of their town. Because of this, some become their sidekicks. But often these sidekicks are betrayed by their very own heroes and mentors. Here is a list of some such superhero betrayals:

Green Arrow and Speedy

While there can always be a debate going on over who betrayed who, there is this case when Speedy develops the drug addiction, a reason of that is because Oliver is the only family that the boy’s got and Ollie is always on missions leaving the kid alone. Not just that, after coming to know about the Drug Abuse, Ollie first punches Speedy and kicks him out of his team, not just that he also kicks him out of his house for some time.

Batman and Jason Todd

Out of everything that the Joker has done, killing Jason Todd was arguably the worst thing that he did. This is debatable though, but what people tend to believe and they aren’t completely wrong too is that Batman betrayed Todd by not being there for him. Joker here traps the second Robin’s long lost mother who sells Todd out, and when he comes to save her, the Joker beats him to a pulp, with a crowbar. Laughing hysterically all the while, asking if he likes the forehand better or the backhand, he then leaves him there with a time bomb and blows him up just before Batman can get there. Todd when returns feel devastated to see that Bats has still not killed Mr. J.

Batman and Batgirl

Well, we all know how the Killing Joke began, yeah it was with the old Bruce Wayne sleeping with his sidekick, Barbara Gordon, who’s just 19 years old. As fucked up as it may be, the Character of Babs is very victimized as she later is raped by the Joker and shot. After all this, Batman then shares a laugh with the Joker.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Hank Pym is known to have some issues when it comes to him. Be it him reinventing himself, or be it him being mad at the Avengers for kicking him out. After which he even sent a robot to attack his former teammates. This too was superheroes stuff and bearable, but it was the limit when it came to this, Pym after feeling like a loser, started taking it out on the Wasp, who eventually left him.

Batman and Dick Grayson

SuperheroesOkay, this has the be the biggest amongst all betrayals done by superheroes of all time. We all have probably seen the memes with the image where Batman is slapping Robin, This is where Batman has gone crazy thinking that there is some relationship between his parent’s death and Superman when Grayson tells him that he’s gone overboard, he not only slaps him but also wipes his memories and now the former Robin didn’t even know that he was ever a Robin.
