There is no denying that DC Universe has always had an upper hand in the comics. Even if we take in the animated genre, DC still wins the race. But, one place where DC hasn’t made a huge mark is the Cinematic Verse. Except for Nolan’s trilogy, none of the DC Cinema stands out. However, here is a list of the Top 10 DC Movies: (ranked in order)
BEST DC MOVIES RANKED IN ORDER:
The Dark Knight (2008)
Well, undoubtedly, this is at the TOP. The Dark Knight is considered as one of the best movies of the century. Heath Ledger pulled an “I have no words” performance. Inception and The Dark Knight made Nolan a legend.
WONDER WOMAN (2017)
Wonder Woman surprised everyone. It is one of the best superhero movies till date and surely one of the best ever by DC and Warner Bros. Stunning direction, acting and plot made it outrightly awesome!
Superman (1978)
Starring Christopher Reeve, Superman released in 1978 is still considered by man as the most influential, comic book superhero origin stories of all time.
Batman Begins (2005)
So close to being number 2, but I thought to give a shoutout to Christopher Reeve. Batman Begins, another one of Nolan classics’, is one of the best origin stories you will ever see. Christian Bale perfected the role of Batman and was ably supported by Liam Neeson as Ra’s Al Ghul.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
It is only just that Nolan trilogy make up the top 4 on this list. The Dark Knight Rises was a fitting conclusion to the journey Nolan started. The Dark Knight rises climax can be said as one of the best ever superhero movie climax you’ll ever see.
Batman (1989)
Tim Burton’s Batman was a stunning achievement and a unique visual achievement back then. Before Heath Ledger made Joker his own, Jack Nicholson in this film played the nemesis of The Batman really well.
Watchmen (2009)
Watchmen can be considered only thing right done by Zack Snyder as a director. Although intellectually complex, the movie was visually stunning.
V For Vendetta (2005)
Many fans would want this DC/Vertigo Limited Comics edition to be a little higher on the list. Written by Wachowski brothers of the Matrix fame, V for Vendetta has a sprawling narrative and organic action sequences making it a must watch.
Man of Steel (2013)
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Man of Steel although rowdy in nature and too long for the liking could have been better. Consider it an opportunity wasted!
Superman Returns (2006)
Starring Brandon Routh, this Bryan Singer was not a big leap forward but witty and sensitive. It was a feel-good movie altogether. But again, below expectations for the DC movies!
