The new Batman movie not be having an official script or a release date yet, but it has one surefire cast member. J.K Simmons will make his debut as Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Justice League, and he has been confirmed to also star in the solo Batman movie for DCEU. And it seems like the actor, Simmons is not joking around with his character in the movie.
J.K Simmons did an interview with Entertainment Weekly where he spilled some details about his character Commissioner Gordon. J.K Simmons stressed how he would redefine a character which older fans saw as a “ jolly, ineffectual Santa Claus ” figure. The actor said :
“I think over the years in the comics there’s definitely much more of a badass side to him. One of the things that’s interesting to me is investigating hopefully a little bit more of that badass [side]… You’re living in a universe where it’s pretty tough to be a badass compared to somebody like Batman, but in the universe of non-superheroes I like the idea of Commissioner Gordon as a guy that can take care of himself, a guy that’s a real partner to Batman, not just a guy that turns on the bat signal and goes, ‘Help! Help!, Batman!”
J.K Simmons also talked about working with Ben Affleck to Yahoo! Movies, whom he stars with in The Accountant. The actor said :
“I’m really excited to be working with Ben and, in the future, to be working with Ben on both sides of the camera.. He is such a, you know, not just a great actor, but a moviemaker. And he knows, certainly much more than I do, I mean, we’ve had this conversation. He loves writing and producing and directing and being that, and loves going back forth between that and acting.”
